Our top Southport vacation rental tips:

Get the best value:

  • In the Southport area, The sooner you can reserve a vacation home, the easier your search will be. The most desirable vacation rentals are booked very early. Reserving your rental six - twelve months before your vacation dates is recommended. Holiday gatherings are excellent times to plan and reserve your vacation rental.
  • Booking a rental in Fall or Spring months is our best tip for saving money on your vacation. Rates are lower, and you'll find a larger selection of desirable homes. Many vacationers use this method to reserve larger homes, or to reserve a beach front vacation rental that would otherwise be unaffordable during the Summer months. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a Southport vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation on the coast? Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years are great times to gather with family and friends at your favorite beach.
  • Some property managers offer discounts or promotional rates for active duty military and veterans. Remember to ask your host or property manager if special discounts are available for your group before you book.
  • Property managers often offer renters an option to purchase trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which will generally cost between 1% - 5% of the reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for missed vacation time as a result of personal medical-related catastrophes or weather disasters, as well as hurricane evacuation costs, such as an unexpected hotel or additional fuel expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a life-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your property manager for details.
  • Find a copy of your local visitors guide upon arrival. If your rental home doesn't have one, you can find them at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers. In addition to great local articles, visitors guide magazines have offers and deals for local accommodations, restaurants and tours.

How to pick the perfect vacation rental in the Southport area:

  • Choose your dates and max budget.
  • Ocean Views + Near the Beach! has 4 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms.
  • Precise descriptions of bedrooms and bed counts is usually available on booking pages. If not, email the host before reserving your home. Remember that most listings specify the maximum guest capacity, which typically includes sofa beds in living rooms. You'll need to establish what is suitable for your vacation.
  • Some rental properties allow pets, but others don't. Acceptable types of dog or cat, weight and breeds may be restricted, and additional fees may apply. Ask the property manager about pets before booking.
  • If there's a certain Southport destination you crave, keep an eye out for rentals that are either nearby, or those that cater to your requirements.
  • Proper accessibility can make or break a vacation for guests that require the use of a wheelchair. Confirm all required amenities are available before reserving a rental.

Have a wonderful stay:

  • Get the owner's contact number and entry/exit procedures for your rental home.
  • Hosts are there to help! Don't be shy to ask any questions during your stay.
  • Protect the owner (and your things!) by locking and securing the home while you are away, just like you would back home.
  • During arrival, document any issues with the rental property and immediately alert the owner. Record all coorespondence.
  • Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking restrictions can make a stay more pleasurable. Be a good neighbor. You'll increase your chance to make local friends, and resident neighbors can be a great source for finding the best local beaches and hangouts.
  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Residents can typically help you find exactly what you're looking for. Who better to ask where to grab the best tacos, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for crabbing?
  • Double-check the rental property to confirm that you've packed all belongings at check-out. Check closets, dressers, garages, and bathrooms for hidden items. Clean out the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
  • Go through the property one final time and look for any damage. We advise walking through with the property manager whenever possible. If the host isn't available, ensure that you take photographs of the rental to record its condition at check-out.
  • Did you have a terrific time? Most rental management companies make it easy for guests to provide comments. If your rental property and/or property management company was fantastic, they always love to hear your praise. If anything was out of order and they failed to address it in a reasonable manner, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make it a point as part of your review.

Victory Beach Vacations

Visitors who are on the hunt for the postcard-perfect vacation rental in the heart of the Carolina Beach or Kure Beach area will find an enticing selection and plenty of friendly customer service when they rent through Victory Beach Vacations. Based in Carolina Beach in the coastal Cape Fear region, Victory Beach Vacations has more than 100 vacation rentals in all shapes and sizes to ensure that every vacationing family can find their dream home away from home on the beach.   When you book your Cape Fear getaway with Victory Beach Vacations, the fun doesn’t end when you leave the beach, it continues with an array of privately-owned properties outfitted with all of the amenities needed for a fabulous beach vacation.   Jenna Lanier, General Manager, explains that her family first opened the rental and property management business in 2002. At the forefront of Victory Beach operations is Lanier’s mother, Caroline Meeks. Meeks is both the Broker in Charge and co-owner with husband, Buck Meeks, who manages the Field Services team with Lanier’s husband, Scott.   For nearly 20 years, the Victory Beach team has worked tirelessly to establish a network of top-of-the-line rental properties for Cape Fear visitors to enjoy. “As far as our properties go,” explains Lanier, “they are all updated, well-furnished and appointed. “We have always performed post-cleaning inspections and since the pandemic, have put freshly laundered duvets over all of the comforters between rentals.”   Lanier emphasizes how important the guests experience is “we strive to give our guests a relaxing, stress free, memorable vacation.” This emphasis on customer service has led to Victory Beach Vacations having a 4.8 Google rating with over 300 reviews by happy owners and guests. In addition to Victory Beach’s superior sanitation practices, the company offers properties for every type of visitor. Choose from luxury oceanfront houses and condos to more reasonbly priced 2nd row properties with oceanviews. Many properties include pools and hot tubs as well, perfect for outdoor entertaining, and many are dog friendly.   Lanier also notes that all properties are within walking or driving distance to Pleasure Island’s main attractions – Carolina Beach and Kure Beach. The former, as described by Lanier, is the more commercialized of the two destinations and features a boardwalk, outdoor dining options and a plethora of weekly activities including fireworks, live music, amusement park pop-ups, and movies under the stars. Kure Beach offers a more residential feel with its fishing pier, intimate restaurants and family favorite, North Carolina Aquarium at Fort Fisher.More water fun awaits, too. “There is a harbor and a canal that feed into the intercoastal. We have several properties on the harbor so guests can bring their boat, kayak, [or jet ski] and travel between islands,” says Lanier.   A stay with Victory Beach Vacations is an annual pilgrimage for most. “A large percentage of guests are previous guests. Some even reserve the same property for the next year as they’re checking out,” Lanier says. “It’s almost like it’s their personal vacation home.”   Even before guests arrive at their vacation destination, the Victory Beach Vacations’ website greets them with a live beach cam and exquisite aerial footage of both Carolina and Kure Beaches.
