  • The earlier you can book a vacation home, the better your selection will be. The best vacation rentals are booked very early. Reserving your rental 6-12 months before your vacation is recommended. Christmas, Thanksgiving and New Years Eve are excellent times to plan and book your vacation home.
  • June, July, and August are the most expensive months along the coast of NC. Booking a rental in the Spring or Fall is a good way to save on your vacation. Rates are lower, and you'll find a better selection of desirable homes.   • Some owners offer rate reductions for active duty military and veterans. Ask your host or property manager if special offers are available for your family.

  • Don't forget to... Ask a local! Locals can usually help. Who better to ask where to order the best nachos, have a great night out, or the best spots for bird watching?
  • Double-check the vacation property to confirm that you've packed all of your family's items at check-out. Re-check garages, decks, and cabinets for hidden items. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
  • Walk through the property one final time and look for any damage. We advise walking through with the host whenever you can (often this isn't possible). If the manager isn't available, ensure that you take video and pictures of the property to record its condition.
  • Did you have a great time? Most rental managers make it easy for guests to provide reviews. If your property and/or property manager was great, they always love to hear your praise.
