The Flip Flop Inn is conveniently located between both bridges, for simple access to mainland and two grocery stores, Publix and Food Lion. Just up the road is Southport, 6.8 miles to oak island lighthouse, 7.1 to the Marina, 14.4 to Fort Fisher Aquarium , stores, eateries and cafes.

About the Area

Located near the beach, this cottage is in Long Beach, a neighborhood in Oak Island. Bald Head Island Lighthouse and Old Brunswick County Jail Museum are local landmarks, and some of the area's attractions include Bald Head Island Information Center and North Carolina Maritime Museum at Southport. Be sure to check out the area's animals with activities such as game walks and birdwatching.

When to visit Oak Island & When to book:

  • June, July, and August are the most expensive months in Oak Island. To find the best value, consider shifting your vacation dates to the Spring or Fall seasons. May, September, and even October offer warm weather, less crowded beaches, and greatly reduced traffic. Many vacationers use this strategy to find larger homes within budget, or to book an oceanfront vacation rental that would otherwise be unavailable during June, July, and August.
  • The sooner your group can reserve a vacation rental, the better your selection will be. The best rental homes are reserved very early. Booking your vacation rental six to twelve months before your travel dates is recommended. Winter holidays are excellent times to search for and book your rental home.

  • Walk through the property one final time and look for any damage. We suggest walking through with the property manager whenever possible. If the manager is not available, ensure that you take video of the rental to record its condition at check-out.
