Tricks and tips to get the optimal rental experience:

Sticking to a budget:

  • The sooner you can reserve a vacation home, the better your selection will be. The most desirable rental homes are booked early. Booking your rental 6-12 months before your travel dates is recommended. Holidays such as Christmas and Thanksgiving are excellent times to search for and book your vacation home.
  • Summer months are the most expensive season along the coast of NC. To book the largest rental within budget, we recommend booking in the Spring or Fall. You'll benefit from lower rates, greater selection, beautiful weather and the absence of giant crowds at the beach and popular Southport attractions.
  • Some owners offer discounts for veterans and active duty military. It's always a good idea to check with your host or property manager to see if special offers are available for your group before you book.
  • Property managers typically offer renters an option to buy vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which usually will cost you 1% - 5% of the base stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any missed trip time as a result of medical-related emergencies or weather disasters, as well as evacuation costs, such as an unanticipated hotel overnight or extra gas expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a welcome relief if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your host for specifics.
  • Look for your local Southport visitors guide upon checking in. If your rental home doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local grocery stores and visitor centers. In addition to great local information, visitors guide magazines have discounts for nearby accommodations, restaurants and tours.

How to choose and book your prefect Southport vacation home:

  • Choose vacation week and maximum budget.
  • Decide how many beds and the configuration you need. Palm Paradise - Fantastic 3 bedroom 3 bath stand alone house has 3 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our Southport vacation rental search.
  • Specific information regarding bedrooms and bed types is usually accessible on booking websites. If not, call the host before reserving your rental. Note that most property listings specify the max. guest capacity, which frequently includes pull-out couches and bunk beds. You'll need to work out what bed configuration is best for your group.
  • Some rental properties allow pets, and others do not. Allowable types of dog or cat, size and breeds may be restricted, and additional charges may apply. Ask your host about allowable breeds and types before booking.
  • If there's a particular Southport attraction you love, browse rentals that are either near by, or those that cater especially to your desires.
  • Suitable accessibility can make or break a vacation for guests that require the use of a wheelchair. .

Additional considerations:

  • We recommend storing the host's information in your smartphone.
  • Property managers are great sources of help! Feel free to ask questions before, during, or after your stay.
  • Ensure you protect the rental owner (and your things!) by locking the property while you are gone, just like you would at home.
  • Document any issues with the rental at check in, and immediately send them to the owner. We specifically recommend e-mails and text messages, as they usually contain time stamps that are beneficial if a dispute is filed.
  • Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like loud vacationers bothering your peaceful home. Practice the golden rule for common sense. If they like you, locals might even recommend great beaches and places you would have not otherwise known!
  • Don't forget to... Ask a local! Residents can frequently help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to book the best tours, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for fine dining?
  • Double-check the rental property to confirm that you've packed all of your belongings at check-out. Remember to check bathrooms, dressers, and closets for hidden items. Clean the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
  • Record a video to document the condition of the property.
  • Leave feedback! Property managers rely on great feedback to inspire more bookings. They'll be thankful for your review. Alternatively, if something went awry, other vacationing families will be thankful you shared your review find their best vacation rental. Remember to be objective. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the host had any control over the issue, and if so, whether they responded reasonably to solve it.

Victory Beach Vacations

Visitors who are on the hunt for the postcard-perfect vacation rental in the heart of the Carolina Beach or Kure Beach area will find an enticing selection and plenty of friendly customer service when they rent through Victory Beach Vacations. Based in Carolina Beach in the coastal Cape Fear region, Victory Beach Vacations has more than 100 vacation rentals in all shapes and sizes to ensure that every vacationing family can find their dream home away from home on the beach.   When you book your Cape Fear getaway with Victory Beach Vacations, the fun doesn’t end when you leave the beach, it continues with an array of privately-owned properties outfitted with all of the amenities needed for a fabulous beach vacation.   Jenna Lanier, General Manager, explains that her family first opened the rental and property management business in 2002. At the forefront of Victory Beach operations is Lanier’s mother, Caroline Meeks. Meeks is both the Broker in Charge and co-owner with husband, Buck Meeks, who manages the Field Services team with Lanier’s husband, Scott.   For nearly 20 years, the Victory Beach team has worked tirelessly to establish a network of top-of-the-line rental properties for Cape Fear visitors to enjoy. “As far as our properties go,” explains Lanier, “they are all updated, well-furnished and appointed. “We have always performed post-cleaning inspections and since the pandemic, have put freshly laundered duvets over all of the comforters between rentals.”   Lanier emphasizes how important the guests experience is “we strive to give our guests a relaxing, stress free, memorable vacation.” This emphasis on customer service has led to Victory Beach Vacations having a 4.8 Google rating with over 300 reviews by happy owners and guests. In addition to Victory Beach’s superior sanitation practices, the company offers properties for every type of visitor. Choose from luxury oceanfront houses and condos to more reasonbly priced 2nd row properties with oceanviews. Many properties include pools and hot tubs as well, perfect for outdoor entertaining, and many are dog friendly.   Lanier also notes that all properties are within walking or driving distance to Pleasure Island’s main attractions – Carolina Beach and Kure Beach. The former, as described by Lanier, is the more commercialized of the two destinations and features a boardwalk, outdoor dining options and a plethora of weekly activities including fireworks, live music, amusement park pop-ups, and movies under the stars. Kure Beach offers a more residential feel with its fishing pier, intimate restaurants and family favorite, North Carolina Aquarium at Fort Fisher.More water fun awaits, too. “There is a harbor and a canal that feed into the intercoastal. We have several properties on the harbor so guests can bring their boat, kayak, [or jet ski] and travel between islands,” says Lanier.   A stay with Victory Beach Vacations is an annual pilgrimage for most. “A large percentage of guests are previous guests. Some even reserve the same property for the next year as they’re checking out,” Lanier says. “It’s almost like it’s their personal vacation home.”   Even before guests arrive at their vacation destination, the Victory Beach Vacations’ website greets them with a live beach cam and exquisite aerial footage of both Carolina and Kure Beaches.
