Tips and Tricks to get the best vacation home experience:

Sticking to your spending plan:

  • Book your vacation rental as early as possible. Rental schedules often open 12 months in advance (or in September just after Summer ends). Many groups book their Summer vacations during Christmas and Thanksgiving get-togethers. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
  • June, July, and August are the most expensive months in the Southport area. To get the largest vacation home within budget, we recommend reserving in Spring or Fall. You'll benefit from lower rental rates, greater selection, beautiful weather and the absence of giant crowds at Southport restaurants, tours, and activities. Many vacationers use this method to reserve larger homes, or to reserve an oceanfront rental that would otherwise be unavailable or unaffordable during the high season.
  • Hosts and Property managers sometimes offer rate reductions for veterans and active duty military. It's always a good idea to check with your property manager to see if rate reductions are available for your family.
  • Management companies and individual rental owners frequently offer their guests an option to obtain vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which normally will cost anywhere between 1% - 5% of the booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any missed trip time as a result of personal medical-related issues or weather disasters, as well as hurricane evacuation costs, such as an unexpected hotel overnight or extra gasoline expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a bank account-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your property manager for details.
  • Often, property management companies and vacation rental houses supply Southport area visitor guides that include coupons, either offered independently by local businesses, or through a partnership between the rental management company and the business itself. You can also find Southport area magazine and coupon books at local shops and grocery stores.

Make a plan and pick your Southport rental:

  • Choose vacation dates and max budget.
  • Note the number bedrooms and the configuration you need. Spinnaker: 4 Bed\/2 Bath Oceanfront Home with Expansive Views from Living Area. has 4 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our rental home search.
  • Specific descriptions of bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is commonly accessible on booking websites. Otherwise, email or call the property owner before you reserve your home. Note that most property listings specify the max. guest capacity, which frequently includes sofa beds.
  • Some rentals allow pets, and others do not. Acceptable types of family pet, weight and breeds may be restricted, and added charges may apply. Ask the property manager about allowable breeds and types before booking.
  • Are you looking for unique amenities? Most websites include search filters with amenity lists.
  • Suitable accessibility can make or break a vacation for persons with a disability. .

More tips for your visit:

  • Review check in & check out procedures before traveling. Take a printed copy, and add a note with the instructions to your smartphone.
  • Ask questions. You may need instructions for a garage door opener, intercom or washer/dryer. Contact your host. They are there to help! A brief call prevents quite a few problems.
  • Lock your rental home while you are out. Protect the owner's property and your stuff!
  • During arrival, record any issues with the property and immediately contact the host. Record all coorespondence.
  • Don't forget to respect your neighbors. Often, surrounding homes are occupied by permanent residents. Respecting noise limits and parking policies is the right thing to do.
  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Neighbors can usually help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to find the best bike paths, have a great night out, or the best spots for fishing?
  • Don't leave anything behind! Just before departing, take a walk through the property to reconfirm you've collected all belongings. Re-check bathrooms, dressers, and closets for hidden items. Clean out the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
  • Walk through the property a final time and keep an eye out for any damage. We recommend walking through with the host whenever you can (often this isn't possible). If the host is not available, take photographs of the property to record its condition.
  • Did your group have a great stay? Most rental home management companies make it easy for customers to provide comments. If your property and/or host was fantastic, they will likely appreciate your kind words. If anything was wrong and they failed to correct it reasonably, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make it a point as part of your comments.

Victory Beach Vacations

Visitors who are on the hunt for the postcard-perfect vacation rental in the heart of the Carolina Beach or Kure Beach area will find an enticing selection and plenty of friendly customer service when they rent through Victory Beach Vacations. Based in Carolina Beach in the coastal Cape Fear region, Victory Beach Vacations has more than 100 vacation rentals in all shapes and sizes to ensure that every vacationing family can find their dream home away from home on the beach.   When you book your Cape Fear getaway with Victory Beach Vacations, the fun doesn’t end when you leave the beach, it continues with an array of privately-owned properties outfitted with all of the amenities needed for a fabulous beach vacation.   Jenna Lanier, General Manager, explains that her family first opened the rental and property management business in 2002. At the forefront of Victory Beach operations is Lanier’s mother, Caroline Meeks. Meeks is both the Broker in Charge and co-owner with husband, Buck Meeks, who manages the Field Services team with Lanier’s husband, Scott.   For nearly 20 years, the Victory Beach team has worked tirelessly to establish a network of top-of-the-line rental properties for Cape Fear visitors to enjoy. “As far as our properties go,” explains Lanier, “they are all updated, well-furnished and appointed. “We have always performed post-cleaning inspections and since the pandemic, have put freshly laundered duvets over all of the comforters between rentals.”   Lanier emphasizes how important the guests experience is “we strive to give our guests a relaxing, stress free, memorable vacation.” This emphasis on customer service has led to Victory Beach Vacations having a 4.8 Google rating with over 300 reviews by happy owners and guests. In addition to Victory Beach’s superior sanitation practices, the company offers properties for every type of visitor. Choose from luxury oceanfront houses and condos to more reasonbly priced 2nd row properties with oceanviews. Many properties include pools and hot tubs as well, perfect for outdoor entertaining, and many are dog friendly.   Lanier also notes that all properties are within walking or driving distance to Pleasure Island’s main attractions – Carolina Beach and Kure Beach. The former, as described by Lanier, is the more commercialized of the two destinations and features a boardwalk, outdoor dining options and a plethora of weekly activities including fireworks, live music, amusement park pop-ups, and movies under the stars. Kure Beach offers a more residential feel with its fishing pier, intimate restaurants and family favorite, North Carolina Aquarium at Fort Fisher.More water fun awaits, too. “There is a harbor and a canal that feed into the intercoastal. We have several properties on the harbor so guests can bring their boat, kayak, [or jet ski] and travel between islands,” says Lanier.   A stay with Victory Beach Vacations is an annual pilgrimage for most. “A large percentage of guests are previous guests. Some even reserve the same property for the next year as they’re checking out,” Lanier says. “It’s almost like it’s their personal vacation home.”   Even before guests arrive at their vacation destination, the Victory Beach Vacations’ website greets them with a live beach cam and exquisite aerial footage of both Carolina and Kure Beaches.
