Take a trip back in time at the Fort Fisher State Historic Site and Museum which features live oak-covered trails and bunkers from the American Civil War. Stroll through the marsh to visit the home of the famed Ft. Fisher Hermit. Or wind down with nature at our two state parks, sure to provide a memorable experience with hiking, fishing, and water activities such as paddle boarding and kayaking, and search for a Venus Flytrap which is native to NC only. As one of North Carolina's most undeveloped beaches, the island offers a unique opportunity to see many diverse coastal wildlife, including pelicans and loggerhead sea turtles, in their natural habitat. Whether it’s exploring activities on the island, appreciating the ocean vistas, or enjoying a beverage by sunset from your own private balcony, Pleasure Island offers diversion for every enthusiast!

Explore the treasures of Carolina Beach, ranked one of the top 10 boardwalks in the country by Food & Wine magazine. One of the last remaining beach boardwalks on the East Coast, it includes a variety of eateries, an arcade, stores, ice cream, Famous Britts Donuts, bars, and more! During the summer months, the Boardwalk is bustling with the sound of music, carnival rides, bingo, family nights, and events like the weekly fireworks and concert series. Rent a Jeep, bicycle, or golf cart as the most convenient ways to navigate the island. Annual off-season events include the Cape Fear Kite Festival, Christmas by the Sea, and the Island of Lights Festival.

Tricks and tips to get the optimal rental experience:

Money saving strategies:

  • Book your rental as soon as possible. Rental schedules usually become available a year in advance (or in September just after Summertime ends). Many groups book their Summer vacation rentals during Thanksgiving and Christmas gatherings. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
  • Summer months are the most expensive season in Carolina Beach. Booking your Southport vacation home in the Spring or Fall is one of our best tips for saving money on your vacation. Rental rates are lower, and you'll find a larger selection of acceptable properties. Many vacationers use this method to reserve larger homes, or to book a beach front vacation rental that would otherwise be unaffordable during the Summer. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a Southport vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation near the ocean? Christmas, Thanksgiving, and New Years Eve are great times to gather with loved ones at your favorite beach.
  • Property management companies sometimes offer discounts for veterans and active duty military. Ask your host or property manager if special offers are available for your group.
  • Property management companies often offer their guests an option to add vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which costs anywhere between 1% - 5% of the base booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any missed trip time as a result of personal medical-related issues or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation costs, such as an unanticipated hotel overnight or extra gasoline expenses. Trip insurance might be a a bank account-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your property manager for specifics.
  • Look for your local visitors guide when you check-in. If your rental doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local shops and visitor centers. In addition to great local articles, visitor guide magazines contain offers and deals for nearby accommodations, restaurants and tours.

Use filters to search efficiently:

  • Select a group lead, select your dates, and select a spending budget.
  • Decide how many beds and what type of bedroom configuration your group needs. Oceanfront with Pool - New Flooring - New Furniture has 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms.
  • Precise details about bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is commonly available on booking pages. If you don't see them listed, call the property owner before you reserve the vacation property. Note that most property listings specify maximum guest capacity, which often includes pull out couches in living rooms.
  • Are you traveling with furry, four-legged family members? Many vacation homes allow animals, but guidelines and restrictions apply. Allowable pet type, breed, and size are often limited. Remember to ask your host before booking, and study your rental agreement! Additional fees or may be applied to your contract.
  • Are you looking for specific amenities? Most rental search websites include search filters with amenity lists.
  • Proper accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for the less-mobile. .

Have a fantastic stay:

  • Get the property manager's contact number and check in/check out procedures for your rental.
  • Hosts are there to help! Feel free to ask any questions before, during, or after your stay.
  • Lock your vacation home while you're out. Keep your property safe!
  • To make certain that damages aren't attributed to your family's visit, record any problem areas upon check in. E-mail the host immediately to relay any damages. If there is a dispute about legal responsibility later, having the recorded concerns and contact attempts will be very helpful.
  • Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like disagreeable vacationers bothering your peace. Employ the golden rule for best judgement. If they like you, locals might even recommend great beaches and scenic spots you would've never otherwise known!
  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Locals can typically help. Who better to ask where to charter a fishing boat, have a great night out, or the best spots for shopping?
  • On check-out day, complete a walk-through to confirm you didn't leave anything behind. Re-check dressers, closets, and bathrooms for hidden belongings. Clean the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
  • Inspect the rental one final time and scan for any damage. We recommend inspecting the property with the property manager whenever you can (often this isn't possible). If the host is not available, take pictures of the rental to record its condition at check-out.
  • After your trip, leave feedback! Hosts rely on good ratings to compel new reservations. They'll be thankful for your review. Alternatively, if something wasn't right, other vacationing families will will be grateful for your feedback and help them have the best future vacation. Be fair with your review. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the host could control the issue, and if so, whether they responded quickly to solve it.

Victory Beach Vacations

Visitors who are on the hunt for the postcard-perfect vacation rental in the heart of the Carolina Beach or Kure Beach area will find an enticing selection and plenty of friendly customer service when they rent through Victory Beach Vacations. Based in Carolina Beach in the coastal Cape Fear region, Victory Beach Vacations has more than 100 vacation rentals in all shapes and sizes to ensure that every vacationing family can find their dream home away from home on the beach.   When you book your Cape Fear getaway with Victory Beach Vacations, the fun doesn’t end when you leave the beach, it continues with an array of privately-owned properties outfitted with all of the amenities needed for a fabulous beach vacation.   Jenna Lanier, General Manager, explains that her family first opened the rental and property management business in 2002. At the forefront of Victory Beach operations is Lanier’s mother, Caroline Meeks. Meeks is both the Broker in Charge and co-owner with husband, Buck Meeks, who manages the Field Services team with Lanier’s husband, Scott.   For nearly 20 years, the Victory Beach team has worked tirelessly to establish a network of top-of-the-line rental properties for Cape Fear visitors to enjoy. “As far as our properties go,” explains Lanier, “they are all updated, well-furnished and appointed. “We have always performed post-cleaning inspections and since the pandemic, have put freshly laundered duvets over all of the comforters between rentals.”   Lanier emphasizes how important the guests experience is “we strive to give our guests a relaxing, stress free, memorable vacation.” This emphasis on customer service has led to Victory Beach Vacations having a 4.8 Google rating with over 300 reviews by happy owners and guests. In addition to Victory Beach’s superior sanitation practices, the company offers properties for every type of visitor. Choose from luxury oceanfront houses and condos to more reasonbly priced 2nd row properties with oceanviews. Many properties include pools and hot tubs as well, perfect for outdoor entertaining, and many are dog friendly.   Lanier also notes that all properties are within walking or driving distance to Pleasure Island’s main attractions – Carolina Beach and Kure Beach. The former, as described by Lanier, is the more commercialized of the two destinations and features a boardwalk, outdoor dining options and a plethora of weekly activities including fireworks, live music, amusement park pop-ups, and movies under the stars. Kure Beach offers a more residential feel with its fishing pier, intimate restaurants and family favorite, North Carolina Aquarium at Fort Fisher.More water fun awaits, too. “There is a harbor and a canal that feed into the intercoastal. We have several properties on the harbor so guests can bring their boat, kayak, [or jet ski] and travel between islands,” says Lanier.   A stay with Victory Beach Vacations is an annual pilgrimage for most. “A large percentage of guests are previous guests. Some even reserve the same property for the next year as they’re checking out,” Lanier says. “It’s almost like it’s their personal vacation home.”   Even before guests arrive at their vacation destination, the Victory Beach Vacations’ website greets them with a live beach cam and exquisite aerial footage of both Carolina and Kure Beaches.
