When to go & When to reserve a rental home:

  • June, July, and August are the most expensive months in the Southport area. To get the best value, consider shifting your group's trip dates to the Spring or Fall shoulder seasons. May, September, and October offer warm weather, fewer crowds, and reduced traffic.
  • Book your vacation home as soon as possible. Rental schedules usually become available twelve months in advance (or in September just after the Summer season ends). Many families reserve their Summer vacation rentals during Winter holiday gatherings. Book before these holidays for best selection.
  • Some hosts and property managers offer special rates for active duty military and veterans. Ask your property manager if discounts are available for your family before you book.
  • Property managers usually offer renters an option to add vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which usually will cost you between 1% - 5% of the booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any missed days as a result of medical-related emergencies or weather, as well as ensuing additional evacuation costs or charges, such as an unanticipated hotel stay or additional fuel expenses.
