The Historic Stunning Loft · 1889 Top Floor, 2 Balconies, Walk to Riverwalk
The best view in the home belongs to whoever climbs to the top.
The Historic Enchanting Loft occupies the entire third floor of the Cummings-Taylor House — an 1889 Victorian triplex on one of the most pretty cobblestone streets in Wilmington's Historic District. Up here, the city feels a little quieter. The light comes in differently. The original exposed brick walls and wide wood floors tell a story that no amount of remodel could manufacture, and the two private balconies give you a front-row seat to the treetops, the neighborhood rooflines, and the particular golden quality of a Wilmington evening.
The Space:
• Private top-floor apartment in the landmark 1889 Cummings-Taylor House — the best perch in the building
• Sleeps up to 4 — queen bed in bedroom + full pull-out couch in living room
• Queen bed (Crate & Barrel) — fresh linens, new pillows, room-darkening shades, ceiling fan
• Original exposed brick walls throughout
• Original non-functioning brick fireplace in the living room
• Original wood floors and gorgeous crown molding
• 1 full bathroom — fresh bath towels, hand towels, and washcloths supplied
• Recently modernized, entirely outfitted kitchen — refrigerator, range, microwave, toaster, drip coffee maker, full cookware, dishware, silverware, knife block, cutting boards, drinking glasses
• Free ground coffee and sugar supplied
• 40" Samsung Intelligent TV — log into your streaming services
• Full-size in-unit washer and dryer (brand new)
• Central AC and heat · ceiling fans with remote
• High-speed WiFi throughout
• Front balcony off living room — shaded, private seating for morning coffee
• Back balcony off kitchen — outdoor dining table and chairs for al fresco evenings
• Free on-street parking directly outside
• Hair dryer, iron and board, starter toiletries included
• Exterior Ring security cameras at front and back entrances only — no interior cameras
A few things to know before you arrive:
• The Historic Gem is one of three apartments in a historic triplex — you may occasionally hear light sounds from neighboring units, as you would in any well-appreciated old building. It's part of the appeal.
• The person who made the reservation must be present for the duration of the stay.
• No events or events. We're in a residential historic neighborhood, and our neighbors (and the building) deserve respect.
• No smoking indoors. The porch is yours.
• Care of the home: The Historic Gem is professionally maintained to a standard we're genuinely proud of. To preserve the quality of the linens, surfaces, and finishes, we ask that guests refrain from using bleach-based cleaning products during their stay — our team handles all deep cleaning between guests. We also ask that incense, essential oil diffusers, and similar fragrance items be left at home; they can be difficult to clear before the next guests arrive and may affect those with sensitivities.
• Please bring personal toiletries — we provide the essentials to get you started, but plan to supplement for longer stays.
• Interested in booking the whole home for a bigger group? The other two apartments are listed separately under our profile — reach out and we can help coordinate.
• No family pets are allowed.
• A rental agreement is required prior to check-in. We'll send it ahead of your arrival — concise, clear, and in place to protect both events.
