Tips to get the very best Southport vacation rental experience:

Getting the best value:

  • June, July, and August are the most expensive months in coastal NC. Booking in the Fall or Spring shoulder seasons is a great way to save money on your vacation rental. Rates are lower, and you'll find a larger selection of suitable homes. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a Southport vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation near the ocean? Christmas, Thanksgiving, and New Years Eve are great times to gather with loved ones at your favorite beach.
  • Book your rental as early as possible. Rental schedules often open 12 months in advance (or in September just after Summer ends). Many groups reserve their Summer rental homes during Winter holiday gatherings. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
  • Hosts sometimes offer rate reductions for active duty military and veterans. Remember to ask your property manager if special offers are available for your group.
  • Booking websites often offer customers an option to add trip insurance. Trip insurance, which normally will cost between 1% - 5% of the base stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for missed vacation time as a result of personal medical-related emergencies or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation costs or charges, such as an unexpected hotel stay or additional gas expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a life-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your property manager for program terms and fees.
  • Find a copy of your local Southport visitors guide magazine when you check-in. If your rental home doesn't have one, you can find them at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers. In addition to great local stories, visitors guides have offers and deals for local accommodations, restaurants and tours.

How to choose the best rental:

  • Select dates and max budget.
  • Determine how many bedrooms and the bed configuration your group requires. 2B/2BA First-floor Oceanfront Condo has 2 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our rental home search.
  • Precise descriptions of bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is often available on booking pages. If they are not listed, email or call the property owner before you reserve the property. Remember that most listings specify maximum guest capacity, which usually includes sofa beds. You will need to determine what bed configuration is suitable for your group.
  • Is your group looking for particular amenities? Most rental websites include amenity lists and search filters.
  • Appropriate accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for persons with a disability. Make certain to inquire about wheel chair accessibility, pool lifts and specialized equipment needs.
  • Remember to include your furry companions! Although a number of vacation homes allow pets or animals, guidelines and costs vary per property. Allowable pet type, breed, and size are often limited. Ask your host before booking, and study your rental agreement! Additional pet fees or charges applied to your agreement.

More tips for your stay:

  • Store the host's information in your smartphone and wallet.
  • Record any issues with the property at check in, and immediately e-mail them to the owner. We especially recommend e-mails and text messages, as they usually contain built-in time stamps that can be beneficial if a dispute arises.
  • Property managers are great sources of help! Don't be shy to ask any questions during your stay.
  • Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like loud visitors disrupting your life at home. Apply the golden rule for best judgement. If they like you, locals might even recommend great local food and attractions you would have never otherwise known!
  • Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Residents can typically help you find exactly what you're looking for. Who better to ask where to launch your kayaks, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for fishing?
  • Keep the property locked while you're out! Don't let burglars spoil your family vacation.
  • Double-check every room of the vacation property to confirm that you've packed all belongings on check-out day. Re-check closets, dressers, garages, and bathrooms for hidden belongings. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
  • Walk through the property a final time and keep an eye out for any damage. We recommend inspecting the property with the property manager whenever you can. If the host is not available, ensure that you take video and pictures of the rental to record its condition.
  • Did your group have a great stay? Many rental websites make it easy for vacationers to provide feedback. If your rental and/or host was great, they would love to hear it. If anything was out of order and they failed to correct it reasonably, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make it a point as part of your feedback.
