Getting the best Southport rental experience:

Get the most from your rental budget:

  • June, July, and August are high season in the Southport area. To find the best value, consider changing your group's vacation week to the Spring or Fall shoulder seasons. May, September, and even October offer warmer weather, , and greatly reduced traffic. Many vacationers use this strategy to reserve larger homes, or to book an oceanfront vacation rental that would otherwise be unavailable or unaffordable during June, July, and August. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a Southport vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation near the ocean? Christmas, Thanksgiving, and New Years Eve are great times to gather with loved ones at the beach.
  • Reserve your vacation rental as soon as possible. Rental schedules usually become available twelve months in advance (or in September just after Summertime ends). Many families reserve their Summer vacation rentals during holiday get-togethers. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
  • Some owners offer discounts for active duty military and veterans. It's always a good idea to check with your host or property manager to see if rate reductions are available for your group before you book.
  • Property managers usually offer renters an option to obtain vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which normally will cost you between 1% - 5% of the stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for days missed as a result of personal medical-related issues or weather, as well as evacuation charges, such as an unexpected hotel stay or additional fuel expenses. Trip insurance might be a a bank account-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask the property owner for details.
  • Find a copy of your local Southport visitors guide magazine when you check-in. If your rental doesn't have one, you can find them at local shops and fuel stations. In addition to great local information, visitor guides have coupons for nearby shops and restaurants.

How to choose the best rental home in Wilmington:

  • Start by choosing your a vacation week and a spending budget.
  • Decide how many bedrooms and what type of bedroom configuration your family needs. Modern home with lookout in the heart of downtown has 5 bedrooms and 4 bathrooms.
  • Specific descriptions of bedrooms and bed counts is often accessible online. If they are not listed, email or call the host before reserving your home. Note that most properties list the max. guest capacity, which frequently includes sofa beds in living rooms. You'll need to work out which bed configuration is best for your vacation.
  • Are you visiting for a single event or attraction? If so, use a map search to locate nearby properties.
  • Appropriate accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for the less-mobile. Make certain to ask about wheel chair accessibility, pool lifts and specialized equipment needs.
  • Do your family pets travel with you? Although a number of vacation homes allow pets or animals, guidelines and costs vary per property. Type of pet, size and breeds may be limited. Remember to ask your host before booking, and study your agreement! Extra fees or charges applied to your agreement.

Additional considerations:

  • Take a copy of the host's phone number and check in/check out procedures for your rental home.
  • Note any damages to the rental during check in, and immediately e-mail them to the property manager. We especially recommend texts and e-mails, as they usually contain built-in time stamps that can be very helpful if damages are attributed to your stay.
  • Ask questions. You may need instructions for a garage door opener, stereo or coffee maker. Contact your host. They are there to help! A brief call prevents quite a few issues.
  • Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like loud vacationers disrupting your life at home. Apply the golden rule for common sense. Happy residents may even recommend great beaches and places you would have never otherwise known about!
  • Don't forget to... Ask a local! Neighbors can typically help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to see a beautiful sunrise or sunset, have a great night out, or the best spots for fine dining?
  • Lock your rental while you are away. Protect your property!
  • Re-check the property to confirm that you've packed everything on check-out day. Re-check bathrooms, dressers, and closets for hidden treasure. Clean the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
  • Document the condition of the property at check-out. We recommend taking a video during your final walk-through.
  • Did your group have a terrific vacation? Most rental management companies make it easy for clients to provide comments. If your property and/or property manager was terrific, they always love to hear your praise. If anything was inoperable and they failed to correct it reasonably, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make a note as part of your review.

Victory Beach Vacations

Visitors who are on the hunt for the postcard-perfect vacation rental in the heart of the Carolina Beach or Kure Beach area will find an enticing selection and plenty of friendly customer service when they rent through Victory Beach Vacations. Based in Carolina Beach in the coastal Cape Fear region, Victory Beach Vacations has more than 100 vacation rentals in all shapes and sizes to ensure that every vacationing family can find their dream home away from home on the beach.   When you book your Cape Fear getaway with Victory Beach Vacations, the fun doesn’t end when you leave the beach, it continues with an array of privately-owned properties outfitted with all of the amenities needed for a fabulous beach vacation.   Jenna Lanier, General Manager, explains that her family first opened the rental and property management business in 2002. At the forefront of Victory Beach operations is Lanier’s mother, Caroline Meeks. Meeks is both the Broker in Charge and co-owner with husband, Buck Meeks, who manages the Field Services team with Lanier’s husband, Scott.   For nearly 20 years, the Victory Beach team has worked tirelessly to establish a network of top-of-the-line rental properties for Cape Fear visitors to enjoy. “As far as our properties go,” explains Lanier, “they are all updated, well-furnished and appointed. “We have always performed post-cleaning inspections and since the pandemic, have put freshly laundered duvets over all of the comforters between rentals.”   Lanier emphasizes how important the guests experience is “we strive to give our guests a relaxing, stress free, memorable vacation.” This emphasis on customer service has led to Victory Beach Vacations having a 4.8 Google rating with over 300 reviews by happy owners and guests. In addition to Victory Beach’s superior sanitation practices, the company offers properties for every type of visitor. Choose from luxury oceanfront houses and condos to more reasonbly priced 2nd row properties with oceanviews. Many properties include pools and hot tubs as well, perfect for outdoor entertaining, and many are dog friendly.   Lanier also notes that all properties are within walking or driving distance to Pleasure Island’s main attractions – Carolina Beach and Kure Beach. The former, as described by Lanier, is the more commercialized of the two destinations and features a boardwalk, outdoor dining options and a plethora of weekly activities including fireworks, live music, amusement park pop-ups, and movies under the stars. Kure Beach offers a more residential feel with its fishing pier, intimate restaurants and family favorite, North Carolina Aquarium at Fort Fisher.More water fun awaits, too. “There is a harbor and a canal that feed into the intercoastal. We have several properties on the harbor so guests can bring their boat, kayak, [or jet ski] and travel between islands,” says Lanier.   A stay with Victory Beach Vacations is an annual pilgrimage for most. “A large percentage of guests are previous guests. Some even reserve the same property for the next year as they’re checking out,” Lanier says. “It’s almost like it’s their personal vacation home.”   Even before guests arrive at their vacation destination, the Victory Beach Vacations’ website greets them with a live beach cam and exquisite aerial footage of both Carolina and Kure Beaches.
