Our top Rental home booking tips:

When to reserve a Southport rental home & When to go:

  • June, July, and August are the most expensive months in Wilmington. Booking a rental in the Fall or Spring shoulder seasons is one of our best tips for saving money on your vacation home. Rental rates are lower, and you'll find a better selection of acceptable properties. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a Southport vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday near the ocean? Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years are great times to gather with loved ones at the beach.
  • Book your vacation home as early as possible. Rental schedules often open twelve months in advance (or in September just after Summer ends). Many families reserve their Summer vacations during Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years Eve get-togethers. Book before these holidays for best selection.
  • Hosts and Property managers sometimes offer discounts for active duty military and veterans. It's always a good idea to check with your host or property manager to see if rate reductions are available for your family before you book.
  • Management companies and individual rental owners typically offer guests an option to purchase trip insurance. Trip insurance, which generally costs between 1% - 5% of the base booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any missed vacation time as a result of personal medical-related emergencies or weather, as well as ensuing additional evacuation costs, such as an unanticipated hotel overnight or extra gas expenses. Trip insurance can be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen occurs. Ask the property owner for specifics.
  • Find a copy of your local Southport visitors guide upon arrival. If your rental home doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers. In addition to great articles, travel guide magazines contain money saving offers on local attractions, tours, restaurants, and shops.

Planning, picking, and booking a perfect Southport vacation home:

  • Start by selecting your potential vacation weeks and a max budget.
  • Determine how many beds and the configuration your group requires. Modern home with lookout in the heart of downtown has 5 bedrooms and 4 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our rentals search.
  • Specific information regarding bedrooms and bed counts is regularly accessible online. Otherwise, reach out to the property management company before you reserve the rental. Note that most properties list the max. guest capacity, which often includes pull-out couches. You'll need to work out what configuration is right for your trip.
  • If there's a particular Southport destination you crave, browse properties that are either nearby, or those that cater to your requirements.
  • Suitable accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for persons with a disability. Confirm all necessary amenities are included before booking
  • Some rentals allow pets, and others do not. Allowable types of family pet, weight and breeds may be restricted, and added fees may apply. Ask the host about allowable breeds and types before booking.

During your stay:

  • Store the manager's information in your smartphone.
  • To make certain damages are not attributed to your visit, note any problem areas upon your arrival. Make contact with the property manager immediately to document any pre-existing damages. If there is a dispute, having a record of issues and contact attempts will be helpful.
  • Ask questions. You may want instructions for a garage door opener, television set or kitchen appliance. Contact your owner. They are there to help! A brief telephone call can prevent many problems.
  • Be respectful of your neighbors. Frequently, adjacent homes are filled by permanent residents. Respecting late-night noise limits and parking regulations is the right thing to do.
  • Don't forget to... Ask a local! Neighbors can frequently help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to find the best bike paths, have a great night out, or the best spots for bird watching?
  • Lock your rental home while you are out. Protect the owner's property and your things!
  • Just prior to departing, take a walk-through to make sure you haven't leave anything behind. Remember to check garages, decks, and cabinets for hidden items. Clean out the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
  • Please make sure to walk through the rental a final time and look for any damage. We suggest inspecting the property with the property manager whenever you can (often this isn't possible). If the property manager is not available, take video of the rental to record its condition.
  • After your trip, leave feedback! Hosts rely on great ratings to stimulate new bookings. They'll be much obliged for your feedback. Alternatively, if something wasn't right, other vacationers will appreciate that you share your review find their best vacation rental. Be fair with your review. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the owner could control the issue, and if so, whether they responded reasonably to fix it.

Victory Beach Vacations

Visitors who are on the hunt for the postcard-perfect vacation rental in the heart of the Carolina Beach or Kure Beach area will find an enticing selection and plenty of friendly customer service when they rent through Victory Beach Vacations. Based in Carolina Beach in the coastal Cape Fear region, Victory Beach Vacations has more than 100 vacation rentals in all shapes and sizes to ensure that every vacationing family can find their dream home away from home on the beach.   When you book your Cape Fear getaway with Victory Beach Vacations, the fun doesn’t end when you leave the beach, it continues with an array of privately-owned properties outfitted with all of the amenities needed for a fabulous beach vacation.   Jenna Lanier, General Manager, explains that her family first opened the rental and property management business in 2002. At the forefront of Victory Beach operations is Lanier’s mother, Caroline Meeks. Meeks is both the Broker in Charge and co-owner with husband, Buck Meeks, who manages the Field Services team with Lanier’s husband, Scott.   For nearly 20 years, the Victory Beach team has worked tirelessly to establish a network of top-of-the-line rental properties for Cape Fear visitors to enjoy. “As far as our properties go,” explains Lanier, “they are all updated, well-furnished and appointed. “We have always performed post-cleaning inspections and since the pandemic, have put freshly laundered duvets over all of the comforters between rentals.”   Lanier emphasizes how important the guests experience is “we strive to give our guests a relaxing, stress free, memorable vacation.” This emphasis on customer service has led to Victory Beach Vacations having a 4.8 Google rating with over 300 reviews by happy owners and guests. In addition to Victory Beach’s superior sanitation practices, the company offers properties for every type of visitor. Choose from luxury oceanfront houses and condos to more reasonbly priced 2nd row properties with oceanviews. Many properties include pools and hot tubs as well, perfect for outdoor entertaining, and many are dog friendly.   Lanier also notes that all properties are within walking or driving distance to Pleasure Island’s main attractions – Carolina Beach and Kure Beach. The former, as described by Lanier, is the more commercialized of the two destinations and features a boardwalk, outdoor dining options and a plethora of weekly activities including fireworks, live music, amusement park pop-ups, and movies under the stars. Kure Beach offers a more residential feel with its fishing pier, intimate restaurants and family favorite, North Carolina Aquarium at Fort Fisher.More water fun awaits, too. “There is a harbor and a canal that feed into the intercoastal. We have several properties on the harbor so guests can bring their boat, kayak, [or jet ski] and travel between islands,” says Lanier.   A stay with Victory Beach Vacations is an annual pilgrimage for most. “A large percentage of guests are previous guests. Some even reserve the same property for the next year as they’re checking out,” Lanier says. “It’s almost like it’s their personal vacation home.”   Even before guests arrive at their vacation destination, the Victory Beach Vacations’ website greets them with a live beach cam and exquisite aerial footage of both Carolina and Kure Beaches.
