Our top Rental home tips:

Find your perfect rental home:

  • Summertime is the most expensive season in the Southport area. Booking your vacation home in Fall or Spring is our favorite way to save money on your rental home. Rental rates are lower, and you'll find a better selection of desirable homes. Many vacationers use this strategy to find larger homes within budget, or to book an oceanfront rental that would otherwise be unaffordable during the high season.
  • The sooner your group can reserve a home, the better your selection will be. The best vacation homes are reserved very early. Booking your rental up to 12 months before your vacation dates is recommended. Winter holidays are excellent times to search for and reserve your rental.
  • Property managers sometimes offer discounts for veterans and active duty military. Check with your property manager to see if special offers are available for your family before you book.
  • Property management companies typically offer renters an option to purchase vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which will generally cost anywhere between 1% - 5% of the base reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for missed days as a result of medical-related catastrophes or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional evacuation costs or charges, such as an unexpected hotel stay or extra gas expenses. Trip insurance can be a a life-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your property manager for additional information.
  • Find a copy of your local Southport area magazine when you check-in. If your rental doesn't have one, you can find them at local shops and fuel stations. In addition to great articles, visitor guide magazines have coupons for local accommodations and attractions.

Use filters to narrow your rental search:

  • Choose dates and max budget.
  • Determine how many beds and the configuration your family requires. Oceanfront • Wedding Friendly • Heated* Pool • Tiki Bar • Elevator has 12 bedrooms and 14 bathrooms.
  • Specific descriptions of bedrooms and bed counts is generally accessible online. If not, contact the host before you reserve your home. Remember that most listings specify the max. guest capacity, which frequently includes sofa beds in living rooms.
  • If there's a particular Southport destination you love, search for rentals that are either close by, or those that cater especially to your requirements.
  • Appropriate accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for guests that require the use of a wheelchair. Make certain to ask about wheel chair accessibility, pool lifts and specialized equipment needs.
  • Traveling with pets? Although a number of vacation homes allow pets or animals, guidelines and costs vary per property. Type of pet, size and breeds may be limited. Ask your host before booking, and study your rental agreement! Pet fees or charges could be applied to your contract.

Advice for a wonderful stay:

  • Be sure you get the host's phone number and arrival/departure procedures for your rental property. Store the host's contact information in your smartphone and wallet.
  • To ensure that no damages are linked to your stay, note any problem areas when you arrive. Make contact with the host right away to relay any damages. If there is a dispute about legal responsibility later, having a record of issues and contact attempts will be very helpful.
  • Property managers are there to help! Don't be shy to ask questions before, during, or after your stay.
  • Respect your neighbors. Often, surrounding homes are filled by local residents. Respecting quiet hours and parking regulations can make a stay significantly more pleasurable.
  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Residents can frequently help you find exactly what you're looking for. Who better to ask where to grab the best tacos, have a great night out, or the best spots for bird watching?
  • Lock your vacation home while you are out and about. Protect the owner's property and your things!
  • Just before checking out, complete a final walk-through to confirm you haven't leave anything behind. Remember to check bathrooms, garages, and back yards for hidden treasure. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
  • Document the condition of the property at check-out. We recommend taking a video during your final walk-through.
  • Remember to leave a review! Property owners rely on great feedback to inspire new bookings. They'll be much obliged for your feedback. Alternatively, if something went wrong, other vacationers will appreciate that you share your experience find their best rental home. Please be fair with your feedback If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the manager had any control over the issue, and if so, whether they responded quickly to solve it.
