Tips to get the very best Southport vacation home experience:

When to go & When to reserve a Oak Island rental home:

  • Reserve your vacation rental as soon as possible. Rental schedules often become available twelve months in advance (or in September just after Summer ends). Many families reserve their Summer rentals during holiday get-togethers. Book before these holidays for best selection.
  • To get the best value, try shifting your group's vacation to the Spring or Fall seasons. May, September, and October offer warm temperatures, , and reduced traffic.
  • Some hosts offer discounts for veterans and active duty military. Make sure to check with your host or property manager to see if special discounts are available for your family.
  • Property managers typically offer customers an option to buy trip insurance. Trip insurance, which usually costs anywhere between 1% - 5% of the stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for missed trip time as a result of personal medical-related catastrophes or weather, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation charges, such as an unanticipated hotel or extra fuel expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a welcome relief if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your host for additional information.
  • Look for your local Southport area magazine when you arrive at the rental property. If your rental doesn't have one, you can find them at local grocery stores and visitor centers. In addition to great local articles, visitors guide magazines have coupons for nearby restaurants, attractions, and tours.

Planning, picking, and booking your prefectrental:

  • Choose a group leader, select your trip dates, and choose a spending budget.
  • Decide how many beds and what type of bedroom configuration your family requires. Xanadu Oak Island - New Dog-Friendly Home in the Middle of it All has 3 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms.
  • Specific descriptions of bedrooms and bed counts is regularly accessible online. Otherwise, contact the property manager before booking your home. Remember that most properties list maximum guest capacity, which oftentimes includes pull-out couches.
  • Some rentals allow pets, and others do not. Allowable types of pet, size and breeds may be restricted, and added fees may apply. Ask the owner about pet restrictions before booking.
  • Are you visiting for a single event or attraction? Try a map search to locate nearby rentals.
  • Suitable accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for guests that require the use of a wheelchair. .

Tips for a fantastic stay:

  • Add the property manager's contact info to your smartphone. Understand and take a copy of arrival/departure procedures.
  • Hosts are there to help! Feel free to ask any questions during your stay.
  • Keep the property locked while you are gone! Don't let thieves ruin your vacation.
  • Make a record of any issues with the rental at check in, and immediately e-mail them to the host. We especially recommend texts and e-mails, as they usually contain time stamps that can be valuable if there is a dispute.
  • Don't forget to respect your neighbors. Often, adjacent homes are occupied by permanent residents. Respecting late-night noise limits and parking policies reduces conflict and allows everyone to enjoy their day.
  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Local residents can usually help. Who better to ask where to find the fresh catch of the day, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for fishing?
  • When it's time to leave, take a walk-through to make sure you haven't leave anything behind. Remember to check bathrooms, dressers, and closets for hidden treasure. Clean the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
  • Inspect the property a final time and scan for any damage. We suggest walking through with the property manager whenever you can. If the manager is not available, remember to take video of the property to record its condition.
  • After your trip, leave a review! Hosts rely on good feedback to propel new bookings. They'll be much obliged for your review. Alternatively, if something went wrong, other families will be thankful you shared your review find their best vacation rental. Please be objective. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the owner could control the issue, and if so, whether they responded quickly to remedy it.

Victory Beach Vacations

Visitors who are on the hunt for the postcard-perfect vacation rental in the heart of the Carolina Beach or Kure Beach area will find an enticing selection and plenty of friendly customer service when they rent through Victory Beach Vacations. Based in Carolina Beach in the coastal Cape Fear region, Victory Beach Vacations has more than 100 vacation rentals in all shapes and sizes to ensure that every vacationing family can find their dream home away from home on the beach.   When you book your Cape Fear getaway with Victory Beach Vacations, the fun doesn’t end when you leave the beach, it continues with an array of privately-owned properties outfitted with all of the amenities needed for a fabulous beach vacation.   Jenna Lanier, General Manager, explains that her family first opened the rental and property management business in 2002. At the forefront of Victory Beach operations is Lanier’s mother, Caroline Meeks. Meeks is both the Broker in Charge and co-owner with husband, Buck Meeks, who manages the Field Services team with Lanier’s husband, Scott.   For nearly 20 years, the Victory Beach team has worked tirelessly to establish a network of top-of-the-line rental properties for Cape Fear visitors to enjoy. “As far as our properties go,” explains Lanier, “they are all updated, well-furnished and appointed. “We have always performed post-cleaning inspections and since the pandemic, have put freshly laundered duvets over all of the comforters between rentals.”   Lanier emphasizes how important the guests experience is “we strive to give our guests a relaxing, stress free, memorable vacation.” This emphasis on customer service has led to Victory Beach Vacations having a 4.8 Google rating with over 300 reviews by happy owners and guests. In addition to Victory Beach’s superior sanitation practices, the company offers properties for every type of visitor. Choose from luxury oceanfront houses and condos to more reasonbly priced 2nd row properties with oceanviews. Many properties include pools and hot tubs as well, perfect for outdoor entertaining, and many are dog friendly.   Lanier also notes that all properties are within walking or driving distance to Pleasure Island’s main attractions – Carolina Beach and Kure Beach. The former, as described by Lanier, is the more commercialized of the two destinations and features a boardwalk, outdoor dining options and a plethora of weekly activities including fireworks, live music, amusement park pop-ups, and movies under the stars. Kure Beach offers a more residential feel with its fishing pier, intimate restaurants and family favorite, North Carolina Aquarium at Fort Fisher.More water fun awaits, too. “There is a harbor and a canal that feed into the intercoastal. We have several properties on the harbor so guests can bring their boat, kayak, [or jet ski] and travel between islands,” says Lanier.   A stay with Victory Beach Vacations is an annual pilgrimage for most. “A large percentage of guests are previous guests. Some even reserve the same property for the next year as they’re checking out,” Lanier says. “It’s almost like it’s their personal vacation home.”   Even before guests arrive at their vacation destination, the Victory Beach Vacations’ website greets them with a live beach cam and exquisite aerial footage of both Carolina and Kure Beaches.
