Rental property booking tips:

Finding your perfect rental:

  • June, July, and August are the most expensive months in Ocean Isle Beach. To find the most suitable rental for your budget, we strongly suggest reserving in the Fall or Spring shoulder seasons. You'll enjoy lower rental rates, greater selection, gorgeous weather and the absence of giant crowds at your favorite Southport restaurants and activities.
  • Book your vacation rental as soon as possible. Rental schedules generally open 12 months in advance (or in September just after Summertime ends). Many groups book their Summer vacations during holiday get-togethers. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
  • Some hosts offer promotional rates for veterans. Ask your host or property manager if discounts are available for your group before you book.
  • Management companies and individual rental owners usually offer renters an option to obtain trip insurance. Trip insurance, which will generally cost between 1% - 5% of the base booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for days missed as a result of medical-related catastrophes or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation charges, such as an unanticipated hotel stay or additional fuel expenses. Trip insurance can be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen occurs. Ask the property owner for program terms and fees.
  • Look for your local Southport visitors guide magazine upon arrival. If your rental doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local shops and visitor centers. In addition to great articles, travel guide magazines contain deals for local accommodations and attractions.

Make a plan and choose yourvacation home:

  • Start by having your group select the best dates and a maximum budget.
  • Determine how many bedrooms and the bed configuration your group requires. Newly Renovated 5 Bed House with Private Pool Sleeps 16 - 1 Block to the Beach has 5 bedrooms and 4 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our Southport rentals search.
  • Precise information regarding bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is normally available on booking pages. If you don't see them listed, email or call the host before booking the vacation home. Note that most properties list maximum guest capacity, which typically includes pull-out couches and bunk beds.
  • If there's a certain Southport destination you long to visit, search for properties that are either near by, or those that cater to your needs.
  • Appropriate accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for guests that require the use of a wheelchair. Confirm all required amenities are included before booking
  • Are you bringing the family pet? Many vacation homes allow animals, but guidelines and restrictions apply. Allowable pet type, breed, and size are often limited. Remember to ask your host before booking, and study your agreement! Additional pet fees or costs applied to your invoice.

Some things to know before you go:

  • Take a copy of the owner's contact number and entry/exit procedures for your .
  • To make certain no damages are linked to your stay, inspect for any problem areas during arrival. Call the host immediately to document your findings. If there is a dispute about legal responsibility later, having a record of concerns and contact attempts will be very helpful.
  • Hosts are great sources of help! Feel free to ask questions during your stay.
  • Be a good neighbor. Often, nearby homes are filled by local residents. Respecting noise limits and parking policies reduces conflict and allows everyone to enjoy their day.
  • Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Residents can often help you find exactly what you're looking for. Who better to ask where to see a beautiful sunrise or sunset, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for shopping?
  • Ensure you protect the owner (and your things!) by keeping the rental locked up when you are away, just like you would back home.
  • Just prior to departing, take a final walk-through to make sure you didn't forget anything. Re-check bathrooms, dressers, and closets for hidden items. Clean out the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
  • Go through the rental one final time and scan for damage. We recommend inspecting the property with the property manager whenever you can (often this isn't possible). If the manager is not available, take photos and video of the property to record its condition.
  • Leave feedback! Property owners rely on good feedback to compel future bookings. They'll be thankful for your review. Alternatively, if something went awry, other families will will be grateful for your review find their best rental home. Remember to be objective. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the owner could control the issue, and if so, whether they responded quickly to fix it.
