Located near the beach, this vacation home is in South Beach, a neighborhood in Bald Head Island. Bald Head Island Lighthouse and Oak Island Lighthouse are local landmarks, and some of the area's activities can be experienced at The Clubs at St. James and Southport Marina. North Carolina Maritime Museum at Southport and Bald Head Island Information Center are also worth visiting. Getting the best rental home value:

  • In the Southport area, The earlier your group can book a rental home, the easier your search will be. The most desirable vacation rentals are booked very early. Booking your rental six to twelve months before your vacation is recommended. Holiday gatherings are excellent times to plan and book your vacation rental.
  • June, July, and August are high season in the Southport area. Booking your vacation home in Fall or Spring is our favorite way to save money on your vacation rental. Rates are lower, and you'll find a larger selection of desirable homes. Many vacationers use this method to find larger homes within budget, or to book an oceanfront rental that would otherwise be unaffordable during June, July, and August.
  • Veterans and Active Duty Military members may be qualified for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective host whether your vacationing group qualifies for a price reduction or discount.
  • Property managers typically offer guests an option to obtain trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which will generally cost 1% - 5% of the base booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for missed days as a result of personal medical-related emergencies or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional evacuation costs or charges, such as an unexpected hotel overnight or additional fuel expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a life-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your host for specifics.
  • Find a copy of your local Southport area magazine when you arrive at the rental property. If your rental home doesn't have one, you can find them at local grocery stores and visitor centers.   • Some rental properties allow pets, and others don't. Acceptable types of family pet, weight and breeds may be restricted, and added fees may apply. Ask the owner about allowable breeds and types before booking.

  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Local residents can frequently help you find exactly what you're looking for. Who better to ask where to charter a fishing boat, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for fishing?
  • Don't leave anything behind! Before you drive away, walk through the rental to confirm you've collected everything. Remember to check bathrooms, garages, and back yards for hidden treasure. Clean the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
  • Go through the property one final time and keep an eye out for damages to contents or the property itself. We advise walking through with the property manager whenever you can (often this isn't possible). If the property manager is not available, remember to take photos of the property to record its condition at check-out.
  • Did your group have a fantastic stay? Many rental websites make it easy for travelers to provide reviews. If your rental and/or host was fantastic, they would love to hear about it. If anything was out of order and they failed to address it reasonably, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make it a point as part of your review.
