Tricks and tips to get the best Southport vacation home experience:

How to get the best rental value:

  • Booking a rental in Fall or Spring months is our best tip for saving money on your rental home. Rental rates are lower, and you'll find a larger selection of desirable homes. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a Southport vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday on the coast? Christmas, Thanksgiving, and New Years Eve are great times to gather with loved ones at the beach.
  • In the Southport area, The earlier your group can book a vacation home, the easier your search will be. The most desirable rental homes are reserved very early. Booking your vacation home up to 12 months before your travel dates is recommended. Holidays such as Christmas and Thanksgiving are excellent times to plan and reserve your vacation home.
  • Property management companies sometimes offer promotional rates for veterans. Ask your host or property manager if special offers are available for your family.
  • Management companies and individual rental owners frequently offer renters an option to add vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which generally costs 1% - 5% of the base booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any missed vacation time as a result of medical-related emergencies or weather, as well as ensuing additional evacuation charges, such as an unanticipated hotel overnight or additional fuel expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a bank account-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your property manager for program terms and fees.
  • Often, management companies supply Southport area visitor guides which include special deals, either offered directly by local businesses, or through a relationship between the management company and the business itself. You can also find Southport visitors guide magazine and coupon books at local shops and grocery stores.

Filter your search:

  • First and foremost, have your group select the best dates and a max budget.
  • Decide how many beds and the bed configuration your group needs. Rivers Edge 223 at The River Hotel of Southport has 1 bedrooms and 1 bathrooms.
  • Precise information about bedrooms and bed types is regularly available online. If you don't see them listed, email the property owner before you book the vacation home. Note that most listings specify the max. guest capacity, which typically includes sofa beds and bunks.

Know before you go:

  • Take a copy of the property manager's contact number and entry/exit procedures for your . Store the host's information in your smartphone.
  • Record any damages to the rental at check in, and immediately e-mail them to the host. We specifically recommend texts and e-mails, as they usually contain time stamps that can be very helpful if a dispute is filed.
  • Hosts are available to help! Feel free to ask questions before, during, or after your stay.
  • Be a good neighbor. Often times, adjacent homes are filled by permanent residents. Respecting quiet hours and parking rules reduces conflict and allows everyone to enjoy their day.
  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Local residents can typically help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to go for the best drinks, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for crabbing?
  • Lock your vacation home while you're away. Keep your property safe!
  • Double-check every room of the rental property to make sure that you've packed everything at check-out. Check bathrooms, dressers, and closets for hidden items. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
  • Go through the property one final time and look for any damage. We recommend inspecting the property with the property manager whenever possible. If the property manager is not available, remember to take photos and video of the rental to record its condition at check-out.
  • After your trip, leave a review! Property owners rely on excellent reviews to drive future reservations. They'll be grateful for your feedback. Alternatively, if something went awry, other families will appreciate that you share your experience find their best rental home. Please be objective. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the owner had any control over the issue, and if so, whether they responded expeditiously to remedy it.
