Southport rental property booking tips and tricks:

Finding the best value:

  • In the Southport area, The earlier your group can book a rental home, the easier your search will be. The best vacation homes are booked early. Booking your rental up to 12 months before your travel dates is recommended. Christmas, Thanksgiving and New Years Eve are excellent times to plan and reserve your vacation rental.
  • Summertime is high season in the Southport area. To get the best value, consider shifting your vacation to the Spring or Fall months. May, September, and October offer warm weather, , and greatly reduced traffic. Many vacationers use this strategy to reserve larger homes, or to reserve an oceanfront vacation rental that would otherwise be unavailable during June, July, and August.
  • Some owners offer promotional rates for veterans. It's always a good idea to check with your host or property manager to see if special offers are available for your family before you book.
  • Property managers frequently offer their guests an option to buy vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which commonly will cost 1% - 5% of the booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for missed vacation time as a result of personal medical-related catastrophes or weather disasters, as well as hurricane evacuation charges, such as an unexpected hotel overnight or extra fuel expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a welcome relief if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your property manager for program terms and fees.
  • Look for your local visitors guide upon checking in. If your rental home doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local grocery stores and visitor centers. In addition to great local articles, visitors guide magazines contain offers and deals for local shops and restaurants.

How to select the perfect vacation rental in Southport:

  • To start, have your group decide on vacation dates and a max budget.
  • Determine how many beds and the configuration your group requires. Candy Store House: Vintage-Wow! Historic Charm Meets Modern Flair Close to Shopp has 1 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our rental home search.
  • Precise information regarding bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is usually accessible online. If you don't see them listed, email or call the host before you reserve your home. Note that most properties list the maximum guest capacity, which usually includes pull out couches in living rooms.
  • Are you traveling with furry, four-legged family members? Although a number of vacation homes allow pets or animals, guidelines and costs vary per property. Allowable pet type, breed, and size are often limited. Remember to ask the property manager before booking, and study your rental agreement! Additional pet fees or applied to your contract.
  • If there's a specific Southport beach you simply love, look for properties that are either nearby, or those that cater especially to your needs.
  • Appropriate accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for those with limited mobility. Remember to confirm all necessary amenities are available before booking

Considerations for your stay:

  • Add the host's phone number to your phone. Understand and take a copy of arrival/departure procedures.
  • Ask questions. You may need instructions for a garage door opener, elevator or appliance. Contact your property manager. They are there to help! A brief phone call can prevent a lot of problems.
  • Lock your rental property while you're out! Don't let crooks ruin your family vacation.
  • Note any damages to the property upon arrival, and immediately contact the owner. We especially recommend e-mails and text messages, as they usually contain built-in time stamps that are valuable if there is a dispute.
  • Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like troublesome visitors disrupting your life at home. Apply the golden rule for common sense. If they like you, locals might even recommend great beaches and scenic spots you would've never otherwise known!
  • Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Residents can usually help you find exactly what you're looking for. Who better to ask where to order delicious takeout, have a great night out, or the best spots for fishing?
  • Don't leave anything behind! Before departing, walk through the property to confirm you've collected all personal items. Re-check closets, dressers, garages, and bathrooms for hidden belongings. Clean out the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
  • Inspect the rental a final time and look for damages to contents or the property itself. We advise walking through with the property manager whenever you can. If the manager is not available, take photos of the rental to record its condition.
  • Leave a review! Property managers rely on good feedback to propel more reservations. They'll be much obliged for your review. Alternatively, if something wasn't right, other vacationers will be thankful you shared your experience find their best vacation rental. Please be fair with your feedback If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the owner could control the issue, and if so, whether they responded quickly to remedy it.
