You may purchase a temporary membership under our Lifestyle membership at both the Shoals Club and Bald Head Island Club. We strongly recommend you look into the clubs as they have really fabulous amenities. Shoals Club sets out beach chairs and umbrella for members, and offers pools and eateries. Bald Head Island Club has sports like croquet, tennis, golf, etc., great pools for kids and eateries. This is a separate purchase that you coordinate directly with the club.
Once you have booked the home with us, go to these respective links to request a temporary guest membership with the club of your choice. Do not wait as they process these in advance and will cap temporary memberships! We will need to authorize your temporary membership under our full Lifestyle membership. Accordingly, you are responsible for any damages or infractions at the Clubs. Be sure that you submit the form to the club in advance, as there may be a fee for requests with less than 5 days notice.
Bald Head Island Club- https://www.bhiclub.net/guest-memberships (this one is finished online)
Shoals Club- https://shoalsclub.com/documents/10180/1332699/2021+Temp+Member+Form (this one you will print, complete and send to us for signature before submitting to Shoals Club)
A few notes about Club changes: They have changed dates when renters can access the clubs. Some dates/times are for permanent members only. Also, they capped how many temporary rental memberships are available, so request this ASAP before they sell out! Payment is now based on per person instead of per bedroom. Lastly, they are now capping the number of individual temporary members per home, and our home's cap is 8. If you have more than 8 guests, not all can use the club. I strongly suggest contacting the club to ask your questions and get clarification. Unfortunately, we do not know all of the details, and calling or emailing the club is your best bet.

Visit the club websites and the BHI Conservancy to learn more about the island's various pools, golf, kids camps, kids dissection classes, nature walks and more! Our family has really appreciated their amenities. The historic Old Baldy light home also offers a chance for a birds eye view of the island, while water crafts are also an option for those who appreciate sailing, kayaking and more.

If you are looking to book numerous homes for a bigger group, we can help connect you with our two neighboring homes, essentially booking the private cul-de-sac for your group. (Several families in need of bigger space choose to rent out 2-3 of the homes for the week)

*Notes*
Book the tram early as prime times are taken quickly!! For reservations, your address is 7 Spikerush Court.
A modest starter kit with a roll of paper towels, toilet paper for each restroom, 1-2 dishwasher and laundry pods, is supplied.

This is a non-smoking property. The homeowner has serious allergies to tobacco products, and therefore we can not allow any smoking or vaping on the property (indoors or outdoors). Thank you for understanding how important this is for us.

We provide one 4 seater golf cart and one 6 seater golf cart.

We have three exterior audio/video cameras for added safety of guests and security while the home is vacant. One covers the garage entry, a second covers the front door, and a third at the back porch.

We support our military, and as a modest token of appreciation, we will provide a 10% discount to the first 2 military families bookings per year (proof of ID required). Thank you for your service!

Unfortunately, family pets are not allowed. The owner's doodles do occasionally visit.

Items available at the home (note this inventory is taken at the beginning of the season. Since we have renters, we can not guarantee condition or even that they will still be there): Pack and play, booster seat chair insert located in the coffee bar cabinets, infant gate, beach towels, 5 beach chairs, beach umbrella, sand toys, bicycles, crab pot.

Our family hopes that you will appreciate Shrimp 'n Grits as much as we do! Please let us know what questions we can answer about Bald Head Island to make your stay more fun! Follow our Facebook page for updates and photos https://www.facebook.com/shrimpngritsBHI

How to get the best Southport vacation home experience:

Get the most from your budget:

  • June, July, and August are high season in the Southport area. To find the best value, consider changing your family's Southport vacation dates to the Spring or Fall seasons. May, September, and even October offer warm temperatures, fewer crowds, and greatly reduced traffic. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a Southport vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday on the coast? Christmas, Thanksgiving, and New Years Eve are great times to gather with family and friends at your favorite beach.
  • Book your vacation home as soon as possible. Rental schedules often open 12 months in advance (or in September just after Summer ends). Many groups book their Summer vacations during Winter holiday gatherings. Book before these holidays for best selection.
  • Property managers sometimes offer discounts for veterans and active duty military. Ask your property manager if special offers are available for your group before you book.
  • Property managers typically offer guests an option to buy vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which generally will cost between 1% - 5% of the stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any missed time as a result of medical-related issues or weather, as well as hurricane evacuation costs, such as an unexpected hotel overnight or extra fuel expenses. Trip insurance can be a a life-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your host for more information.
  • Find a copy of your local Southport area magazine when you check-in. If your rental doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers. In addition to great articles, travel guides have deals for local tours and attractions.

Planning, selecting, and booking the perfectrental home:

  • Select your vacation dates and maximum budget.
  • Determine how many beds and the configuration your family needs. Bald Head Island 3 bdrm home with tons of porch space. Convenient to BHIC! has 3 bedrooms and 4 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our rental home search.
  • Specific descriptions of bedrooms and bed counts & types is normally accessible on booking websites. If they are not listed, contact the host before reserving the rental. Remember that most listings specify the max. guest capacity, which frequently includes pull out couches in living rooms. You'll need to work out what is suitable for your trip.
  • Does your family require particular amenities? Most websites include search filters with amenity lists. Filtering by amenity will allow you to quickly find your ideal rental.
  • Suitable accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for persons with a disability. Make certain to inquire about specialized equipment and wheel chair accessibility.
  • Do your family pets travel with you? Many vacation homes allow animals, but guidelines and restrictions apply. Allowable pet type, breed, and size are often limited. Make sure to ask before booking, and study your rental agreement! Extra fees or costs applied to your invoice.

More tips for your stay:

  • Take a copy of the property manager's phone number and check in/check out procedures for your rental. Store the host's information in your smartphone and wallet.
  • Note any issues with the property at check in, and immediately e-mail them to the host. We specifically recommend e-mails and text messages, as they usually contain built-in time stamps that can be helpful if damages are assessed.
  • Hosts are available to help! Don't be shy to ask any questions during your stay.
  • Respect the neighborhood. Often, adjacent homes are filled by local residents. Respecting noise limits and parking policies is the right thing to do.
  • Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Local residents can typically point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to find the best seashells, have a great night out, or the best spots for crabbing?
  • Lock your rental property while you are away! Don't let crooks ruin your vacation.
  • Re-check the rental property to confirm that you've packed all personal items at departure. Make sure to check bathrooms, dressers, and closets for hidden items. Clean out the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
  • Record a video to document the condition of the property.
  • Leave a review! Property managers rely on great feedback to propel future reservations. They'll be thankful for your review. Alternatively, if something wasn't as described, other families will appreciate that you share your feedback find their best rental home. Be fair with your review. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the property manager had any control over the issue, and if so, whether they responded reasonably to fix it.

Victory Beach Vacations

Visitors who are on the hunt for the postcard-perfect vacation rental in the heart of the Carolina Beach or Kure Beach area will find an enticing selection and plenty of friendly customer service when they rent through Victory Beach Vacations. Based in Carolina Beach in the coastal Cape Fear region, Victory Beach Vacations has more than 100 vacation rentals in all shapes and sizes to ensure that every vacationing family can find their dream home away from home on the beach.   When you book your Cape Fear getaway with Victory Beach Vacations, the fun doesn’t end when you leave the beach, it continues with an array of privately-owned properties outfitted with all of the amenities needed for a fabulous beach vacation.   Jenna Lanier, General Manager, explains that her family first opened the rental and property management business in 2002. At the forefront of Victory Beach operations is Lanier’s mother, Caroline Meeks. Meeks is both the Broker in Charge and co-owner with husband, Buck Meeks, who manages the Field Services team with Lanier’s husband, Scott.   For nearly 20 years, the Victory Beach team has worked tirelessly to establish a network of top-of-the-line rental properties for Cape Fear visitors to enjoy. “As far as our properties go,” explains Lanier, “they are all updated, well-furnished and appointed. “We have always performed post-cleaning inspections and since the pandemic, have put freshly laundered duvets over all of the comforters between rentals.”   Lanier emphasizes how important the guests experience is “we strive to give our guests a relaxing, stress free, memorable vacation.” This emphasis on customer service has led to Victory Beach Vacations having a 4.8 Google rating with over 300 reviews by happy owners and guests. In addition to Victory Beach’s superior sanitation practices, the company offers properties for every type of visitor. Choose from luxury oceanfront houses and condos to more reasonbly priced 2nd row properties with oceanviews. Many properties include pools and hot tubs as well, perfect for outdoor entertaining, and many are dog friendly.   Lanier also notes that all properties are within walking or driving distance to Pleasure Island’s main attractions – Carolina Beach and Kure Beach. The former, as described by Lanier, is the more commercialized of the two destinations and features a boardwalk, outdoor dining options and a plethora of weekly activities including fireworks, live music, amusement park pop-ups, and movies under the stars. Kure Beach offers a more residential feel with its fishing pier, intimate restaurants and family favorite, North Carolina Aquarium at Fort Fisher.More water fun awaits, too. “There is a harbor and a canal that feed into the intercoastal. We have several properties on the harbor so guests can bring their boat, kayak, [or jet ski] and travel between islands,” says Lanier.   A stay with Victory Beach Vacations is an annual pilgrimage for most. “A large percentage of guests are previous guests. Some even reserve the same property for the next year as they’re checking out,” Lanier says. “It’s almost like it’s their personal vacation home.”   Even before guests arrive at their vacation destination, the Victory Beach Vacations’ website greets them with a live beach cam and exquisite aerial footage of both Carolina and Kure Beaches. See for yourself by scanning the QR code and call Victory Beach Vacations at 910.458.0868 to book your Cape Fear getaway. Start making your memories today! —Grace Silipigni
