Tips to get the very best Southport vacation home experience:

Finding your perfect rental:

  • The earlier you can book a rental home, the better your selection will be. The most desirable rental properties are reserved early. Booking your vacation property six - twelve months before your vacation is recommended. Holidays such as Christmas and Thanksgiving are excellent times to plan and book your vacation rental.
  • Summer is high season in the Southport area. To find the best value, try changing your family's Southport vacation week to the Spring or Fall months. May, September, and October offer excellent weather, , and greatly reduced traffic. Many vacationers use this method to reserve larger homes, or to book an oceanfront rental that would otherwise be unavailable or unaffordable during the Summer. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a Southport vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation near the ocean? Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years are great times to gather with friends and family at the beach.
  • Hosts and Property managers sometimes offer rate reductions for active duty military and veterans. Remember to ask your host or property manager if special offers are available for your group before you book.
  • Management companies and individual rental owners usually offer renters an option to add trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which costs anywhere between 1% - 5% of the stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for missed vacation time as a result of medical-related issues or weather, as well as evacuation costs, such as an unanticipated hotel or extra gasoline expenses. Trip insurance can be a a bank account-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your property manager for additional information.
  • Many management companies supply Southport area visitor guide magazines which often include special offers, either offered directly by local businesses, or by way of a relationship between the property management company and the business itself. You can also find Southport visitors guide magazine and coupon books at local gas stations and shopping centers.

Choosing and booking the right Southport rental home:

  • Select your vacation dates and budget.
  • Note the number bedrooms and what type of bedroom configuration your group needs. A Wedge Away, close to beach, great views, private heated pool has 5 bedrooms and 6 bathrooms.
  • Precise details about bedrooms and bed counts is usually available on booking pages. If not, contact the property management company before reserving the rental. Remember that most properties list the maximum guest capacity, which usually includes pull-out couches and bunk beds. You'll need to determine what bed configuration is right for your group.
  • If your family is vacationing with pets, search for a pet-friendly property. Get details on breed, size, and type restrictions. Note that some hosts charge additional pet fees.
  • Are you looking for special amenities? Most rental search websites include amenity lists and search filters. Filtering by amenity will allow you to quickly find the perfect rental home.
  • Suitable accessibility can make or break a vacation for persons with a disability. Confirm all required amenities are included before booking.

More tips for your visit:

  • Take a copy of the owner's phone number and check in/check out procedures for your rental.
  • Property managers are there to help! Don't be shy to ask questions before, during, or after your stay.
  • Protect the property owner (and your stuff!) by locking the rental while you are away, just like you would at home.
  • Document any damages to the property upon arrival, and immediately send them to the host. We especially recommend e-mails and text messages, as they usually contain time stamps that can be very helpful if there is a dispute.
  • Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like obnoxious vacationers disrupting your life at home. Employ the golden rule for best judgement. Happy residents may even recommend great local food and attractions you would have never otherwise known!
  • Don't forget to... Ask a local! Local residents can typically point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to launch your kayaks, have a great night out, or the best spots for fishing?
  • Don't leave anything behind! Before departing, walk through the property to reconfirm you've collected all of your things. Re-check garages, decks, and cabinets for hidden items. Clean out the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
  • Please make sure to walk through the rental one final time and keep an eye out for any damage. We advise walking through with the host whenever you can (often this isn't possible). If the host isn't available, remember to take video of the property to record its condition.
  • Remember to leave feedback! Property owners rely on good feedback to propel more bookings. They'll be much obliged for your review. Alternatively, if something wasn't as described, other vacationers will be thankful you shared your feedback find their best vacation rental. Please be objective. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the owner could control the issue, and if so, whether they responded quickly to remedy it.

Victory Beach Vacations

Visitors who are on the hunt for the postcard-perfect vacation rental in the heart of the Carolina Beach or Kure Beach area will find an enticing selection and plenty of friendly customer service when they rent through Victory Beach Vacations. Based in Carolina Beach in the coastal Cape Fear region, Victory Beach Vacations has more than 100 vacation rentals in all shapes and sizes to ensure that every vacationing family can find their dream home away from home on the beach.   When you book your Cape Fear getaway with Victory Beach Vacations, the fun doesn’t end when you leave the beach, it continues with an array of privately-owned properties outfitted with all of the amenities needed for a fabulous beach vacation.   Jenna Lanier, General Manager, explains that her family first opened the rental and property management business in 2002. At the forefront of Victory Beach operations is Lanier’s mother, Caroline Meeks. Meeks is both the Broker in Charge and co-owner with husband, Buck Meeks, who manages the Field Services team with Lanier’s husband, Scott.   For nearly 20 years, the Victory Beach team has worked tirelessly to establish a network of top-of-the-line rental properties for Cape Fear visitors to enjoy. “As far as our properties go,” explains Lanier, “they are all updated, well-furnished and appointed. “We have always performed post-cleaning inspections and since the pandemic, have put freshly laundered duvets over all of the comforters between rentals.”   Lanier emphasizes how important the guests experience is “we strive to give our guests a relaxing, stress free, memorable vacation.” This emphasis on customer service has led to Victory Beach Vacations having a 4.8 Google rating with over 300 reviews by happy owners and guests. In addition to Victory Beach’s superior sanitation practices, the company offers properties for every type of visitor. Choose from luxury oceanfront houses and condos to more reasonbly priced 2nd row properties with oceanviews. Many properties include pools and hot tubs as well, perfect for outdoor entertaining, and many are dog friendly.   Lanier also notes that all properties are within walking or driving distance to Pleasure Island’s main attractions – Carolina Beach and Kure Beach. The former, as described by Lanier, is the more commercialized of the two destinations and features a boardwalk, outdoor dining options and a plethora of weekly activities including fireworks, live music, amusement park pop-ups, and movies under the stars. Kure Beach offers a more residential feel with its fishing pier, intimate restaurants and family favorite, North Carolina Aquarium at Fort Fisher.More water fun awaits, too. “There is a harbor and a canal that feed into the intercoastal. We have several properties on the harbor so guests can bring their boat, kayak, [or jet ski] and travel between islands,” says Lanier.   A stay with Victory Beach Vacations is an annual pilgrimage for most. “A large percentage of guests are previous guests. Some even reserve the same property for the next year as they’re checking out,” Lanier says. “It’s almost like it’s their personal vacation home.”   Even before guests arrive at their vacation destination, the Victory Beach Vacations’ website greets them with a live beach cam and exquisite aerial footage of both Carolina and Kure Beaches.
