Strategies to get the very best vacation rental experience:

Get the best rental home value:

  • Summer months are high season in Ocean Isle Beach. To get the best value, try shifting your group's vacation dates to the Spring or Fall shoulder seasons. May, September, and October offer great weather, , and reduced traffic. Many vacationers use this strategy to find larger homes within budget, or to reserve a beach front rental that would otherwise be unavailable during June, July, and August.
  • Book your vacation home as soon as possible. Rental schedules generally become available twelve months in advance (or in September just after Summer ends). Many groups reserve their Summer rentals during Christmas and Thanksgiving gatherings. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
  • Veterans and Active Duty Military members may be qualified for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective host whether your vacationing group qualifies for a special rate.
  • Management companies and individual rental owners usually offer guests an option to purchase trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which usually costs anywhere between 1% - 5% of the base stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any missed vacation time as a result of personal medical-related catastrophes or weather disasters, as well as hurricane evacuation charges, such as an unexpected hotel or additional gasoline expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a welcome relief if the unforeseen happens. Ask your host for details.
  • Often, management companies supply Southport area visitor guide magazines which will include money-saving offers, either offered directly by local companies, or through a relationship with the management company and the business itself. You can also find Southport visitors guide and coupon books at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers.

How to choose the best rental:

  • Select a designated group leader, choose your trip dates, and select a spending budget.
  • Note the number beds and what type of bedroom configuration your family needs. Amazing Ocean Views House w/ Private Saltwater Pool - 5 BR-4 BA - Sleeps 13 has 5 bedrooms and 4 bathrooms.
  • Specific descriptions of bedrooms and bed counts & types is regularly accessible on booking pages. If you don't see them listed, call the host before reserving the vacation property. Note that most properties list the max. guest capacity, which typically includes sofa beds and bunks. You'll need to determine what configuration is suitable for your vacation group.
  • If there's a specific Southport destination you are crazy about, keep an eye out for properties that are either nearby, or those that cater especially to your needs.
  • Proper accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for guests that require the use of a wheelchair. Remember to confirm all necessary amenities are available before booking
  • Traveling with pets? Although a number of vacation homes allow pets or animals, guidelines and costs vary per property. Allowable pet type, breed, and size are often limited. Make sure to ask before booking, and study your agreement thoroughly! Pet fees or charges applied to your contract.

Advice for your stay:

  • Be sure you get the host's contact number and check in/check out procedures for your rental. Store the manager's contact information in your smartphone and wallet.
  • Document any damages to the rental during check in, and immediately contact the host. We especially recommend texts and e-mails, as they usually contain built-in time stamps that can be helpful if a dispute is filed.
  • Hosts are available to help! Don't be shy to ask any questions before, during, or after your stay.
  • Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like disagreeable vacationers bothering your peace. Use the golden rule for best judgement. If they like you, locals might even recommend great local food and scenic spots you would've not otherwise known about!
  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Residents can typically help. Who better to ask where to rent beach equipment, have a great night out, or the best spots for shopping?
  • Keep your rental home locked while you're out! Don't let burglars spoil your family vacation.
  • Double-check every room of the rental property to confirm that you've packed all belongings at departure. Check closets, dressers, garages, and bathrooms for hidden treasure. Clean out the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
  • Inspect the rental a final time and scan for any damage. We suggest inspecting the property with the host whenever possible. If the host isn't available, remember to take photos and video of the property to record its condition.
  • Did your family have a great time? Many vacation rental websites make it easy for customers to provide feedback. If your rental and/or property manager was wonderful, they would love to hear about it. If anything was out of order and they failed to correct it within reason, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make it a point as part of your review.
