Strategies to get the optimal vacation home experience:

Get the most from your budget:

  • To find the best value, consider shifting your family's Southport vacation week to the Spring or Fall months. May, September, and October offer warmer temperatures, less crowded beaches, and greatly reduced traffic. Many vacationers use this method to find larger homes within budget, or to book a beach front vacation rental that would otherwise be unaffordable during the high season. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a Southport vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation on the coast? Thanksgiving and Christmas are great times to gather with family and friends at the beach.
  • The sooner your group can book, the easier your search will be. The most desirable rental properties are reserved early. Reserving your vacation home 6-12 months before your vacation dates is recommended. Winter holidays are excellent times to plan and book your rental home.
  • Veterans and Active Duty Military members may be qualified for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property owner or host if your vacationing group qualifies for a price reduction.
  • Property managers frequently offer guests an option to purchase vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which costs between 1% - 5% of the booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any days missed as a result of medical-related issues or weather, as well as hurricane evacuation costs, such as an unexpected hotel stay or extra gasoline expenses. Trip insurance might be a a bank account-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your property manager for details.
  • Many rental management companies and vacation rental houses supply Southport area travel guide magazines which often include special deals, either offered independently by local companies, or by way of a relationship with the rental management company and the business itself. You can also find Southport area magazine and coupon books at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers.

How to choose and book the perfect Southport rental:

  • Choose your vacation dates and maximum budget.
  • Decide how many bedrooms and what type of bedroom configuration your family needs. The Hideaway: Dog-friendly Unit in Multiplex Close to Public Beach Access has 2 bedrooms and 1 bathrooms.
  • Precise descriptions of bedrooms and bed counts is commonly accessible on booking pages. If you don't see them listed, call the host before you book your home. Remember that most property listings specify the max. guest capacity, which often includes pull out couches in living rooms. You'll need to determine what configuration is right for your family.
  • Are you looking for special amenities? Most rental search websites include search filters for amenities. Amenity filters help you quickly remove less-optimal properties.
  • Suitable accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for persons with disabilities. Confirm all required amenities are included before reserving a rental
  • Some rental properties allow pets, and others do not. Acceptable types of family pet, weight and breeds may be restricted, and added costs may apply. Ask the owner about allowable pet guidelines before booking.

Advice for a wonderful stay:

  • Be sure you get the host's phone number and arrival/departure procedures for your rental property.
  • Record any damages to the property upon arrival, and immediately send them to the owner. We specifically recommend texts and e-mails, as they usually contain time stamps that are helpful if a dispute is filed.
  • Hosts are great sources of help! Don't be shy to ask any questions before, during, or after your stay.
  • Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like unpleasant vacationers bothering your life at home. Apply the golden rule for common sense. If they like you, locals might even recommend great restaurants and places you would have never otherwise known!
  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Residents can frequently help. Who better to ask where to charter a fishing boat, have a great night out, or the best spots for shopping?
  • Keep your rental home locked while you're away! Don't let burglars ruin your holiday.
  • Double-check the property to confirm that you've packed all of your family's items at departure. Remember to check garages, decks, and cabinets for hidden treasure. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
  • Inspect the property one final time and look for any damage. We suggest inspecting the property with the property manager whenever possible. If the property manager is not available, remember to take video of the property to record its condition.
  • Leave feedback! Property owners rely on great feedback to stimulate future reservations. They'll be grateful for your review. Alternatively, if something wasn't right, other vacationing families will will be grateful for your experience and help them have the best future vacation. Please be fair with your feedback If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the owner could control the issue, and if so, whether they responded reasonably to solve it.

Victory Beach Vacations

Visitors who are on the hunt for the postcard-perfect vacation rental in the heart of the Carolina Beach or Kure Beach area will find an enticing selection and plenty of friendly customer service when they rent through Victory Beach Vacations. Based in Carolina Beach in the coastal Cape Fear region, Victory Beach Vacations has more than 100 vacation rentals in all shapes and sizes to ensure that every vacationing family can find their dream home away from home on the beach.   When you book your Cape Fear getaway with Victory Beach Vacations, the fun doesn’t end when you leave the beach, it continues with an array of privately-owned properties outfitted with all of the amenities needed for a fabulous beach vacation.   Jenna Lanier, General Manager, explains that her family first opened the rental and property management business in 2002. At the forefront of Victory Beach operations is Lanier’s mother, Caroline Meeks. Meeks is both the Broker in Charge and co-owner with husband, Buck Meeks, who manages the Field Services team with Lanier’s husband, Scott.   For nearly 20 years, the Victory Beach team has worked tirelessly to establish a network of top-of-the-line rental properties for Cape Fear visitors to enjoy. “As far as our properties go,” explains Lanier, “they are all updated, well-furnished and appointed. “We have always performed post-cleaning inspections and since the pandemic, have put freshly laundered duvets over all of the comforters between rentals.”   Lanier emphasizes how important the guests experience is “we strive to give our guests a relaxing, stress free, memorable vacation.” This emphasis on customer service has led to Victory Beach Vacations having a 4.8 Google rating with over 300 reviews by happy owners and guests. In addition to Victory Beach’s superior sanitation practices, the company offers properties for every type of visitor. Choose from luxury oceanfront houses and condos to more reasonbly priced 2nd row properties with oceanviews. Many properties include pools and hot tubs as well, perfect for outdoor entertaining, and many are dog friendly.   Lanier also notes that all properties are within walking or driving distance to Pleasure Island’s main attractions – Carolina Beach and Kure Beach. The former, as described by Lanier, is the more commercialized of the two destinations and features a boardwalk, outdoor dining options and a plethora of weekly activities including fireworks, live music, amusement park pop-ups, and movies under the stars. Kure Beach offers a more residential feel with its fishing pier, intimate restaurants and family favorite, North Carolina Aquarium at Fort Fisher.More water fun awaits, too. “There is a harbor and a canal that feed into the intercoastal. We have several properties on the harbor so guests can bring their boat, kayak, [or jet ski] and travel between islands,” says Lanier.   A stay with Victory Beach Vacations is an annual pilgrimage for most. “A large percentage of guests are previous guests. Some even reserve the same property for the next year as they’re checking out,” Lanier says. “It’s almost like it’s their personal vacation home.”   Even before guests arrive at their vacation destination, the Victory Beach Vacations’ website greets them with a live beach cam and exquisite aerial footage of both Carolina and Kure Beaches.
