About this Property

Unwind and relax this summer at Marsh Mellow! This 4-bedroom, 3 1/2 bath home is available for rent for the first time. Located at the end of Leeward Court, this home features some of the best vistas on Bald Head Island.

**As a new rental property, Marsh Mellow is currently offering a 20% discount off the rental rate.

The main home features three second-floor bedrooms, including a master suite with a king bed, soaking tub and separate shower, and a terrace overlooking the marsh and creek. The guest room with a queen bed shares a bathroom off the hallway with the children' bedroom, which has two twin beds (or a pullout queen couch bed if your guests prefer to sleep on that). The second floor also has a separate office, with a great view of Old Baldy. On the first floor, savor an open floor plan with two sitting areas, a dining area, seating at the kitchen bar, and sliding glass doors that open onto the deck. The living area is filled with books and a wide assortment of games and puzzles for your family and friends to appreciate. The kitchen is completely outfitted with everything you will need for your week at Marsh Mellow. The first floor also has a full laundry room and a half bath.

In addition to the main home, the crofter over the garage is freshly finished, with a queen bed, shower, separate toilet, modest kitchenette, and vistas that make you feel like you're floating above the creek. If you prefer an outdoor shower, that's available too, located underneath the crofter in the yard. In the garage, you'll find two 4-passenger golf carts, along with beach chairs, sand toys, body boards, and three bicycles, accepting you to enjoy outdoor life on the island. You can effortlessly rent additional bicycles or equipment for water sports on the creek at the close by Riverside Adventure Company.

Speaking of the outdoors, Marsh Mellow has a alluring front porch that is typically shaded and features a bench, two chairs and a hammock (our children adore the hammock). The yard is fenced in, and the sizable deck off the side of the home is what makes the outdoor area really special. With separate sitting and dining areas (including a new dining table and chairs not featured in the photos), along with an outdoor grille, it is the ideal spot to enjoy time with family and friends, taking in the beauty all around you. If you sit on Marsh Mellow's deck during the day, you'll see ibis, herons, pelicans and sometimes even dolphins frolic in the marsh. At nighttime enjoy the view of Old Baldy lit up as well as a spectacular view of the nighttime sky.

A few additional notes:
*There is no smoking anywhere in or around the property. Please help us maintain a smoke-complimentary environment.

*Unfortunately, we cannot accept family pets. We sometimes travel to Bald Head Island with our three cats, and we do not want any other pets in the home. (For people with cat allergies, we clean the home thoroughly, but be aware that there are sometimes feline visitors at the home when we're there ourselves.)

*High speed internet and Wifi are supplied. The home has a Sonos One music speaker (kitchen) and three T.V.s (1st floor living room, 2nd floor children' bedroom, Crofter), each with a streaming device (Roku or Amazon Fire Stick). Subscriptions to streaming services not supplied.

*Membership to the Bald Head Island Club is not supplied in the base rental rate. Guest temporary membership may be available for separate purchase. Contact the Bald Head Island Club directly at (910) 457-7300. Guest memberships are limited this summer, so we can't guarantee that a guest membership will be available for your rental week.

*A guest Shoals membership is not available at Marsh Mellow.

*Reservations for the tram from the ferry book up early each summer. The good news is that we often avoid using the tram, choosing instead to walk to Marsh Mellow, then taking one of the golf carts back to the ferry to pick up our suitcases. Feel complimentary to reserve a tram if that's better for you and your guests.

*Please fill out, sign and return the included rental agreement.

If you have any questions about amenities, appliances and supplies in the home, or anything else related to your trip, please contact us before you travel to Bald Head Island. We want to make sure you have a great time and feel at home at Marsh Mellow.

Tips to Save Money on your Rental

  • Search for the tourism bureau where you want to travel. Many established tourism bureaus offer promotional guides with special packages for vacation rentals, dining and attractions. These guides may provide an excellent start to your rental home search.
  • Is it possible to alter your trip dates? Off-peak times provide sizeable savings.
  • Are you a armed forces veteran? Plenty of property management companies offer price reductions to vets and active-duty forces. Be sure to ask property owner to see if your vacationing crew qualifies for a discounted price.
  • Some rentals are practically designed to serve particular guests, whether it is oceanside units with weekly fishing pier passes, city-center condos with walkable access to restaurants or waterfront homes that feature their own kiteboarding launching areas. You'll get the most value from a rental which most closely satisfies your ideal vacation setting, regardless if it costs a tad bit more.
  • Management companies and individual property owners often offer guests the option to obtain trip insurance. Trip insurance, which usually will cost you somewhere between 1% - 5% of the base vacation rental cost, offers buyers reimbursement of their rental expenses for any days missed as a result of health-related emergencies or storms, in addition to ensuing additional hurricane evacuation costs or expenses, like an unforeseen motel stay or additional fuel. Trip insurance is definitely a bank account-saver if the unforseen happens (heaven forbid!).

How to Book a Vacation Home

You might be surprised to discover how many rental properties are available at your destination. Vacation home accommodations have gained in popularity with the rise of worldwide research sites like Tripadvisor and VRBO.

The majority of vacation rentals in Southport are privately owned and many are represented by established local property management agencies. Vacation home management companies leverage scale, systems and working experience to provide trouble-free operational management on behalf of the owner..

Seasoned Southport vacationers have discovered a number of tips and tricks throughout the years when it comes to renting rental properties, however many newcomers will be delighted to realize that several "techniques" are in plain sight, if you know where to look.

Finding and booking the right rental:

Do you think "New rental! Gorgeous Marsh Views! Book now for 20% discount!" is the perfect vacation property for your next visit? Look over this checklist to ensure it fits all of your preferences.

The Sooner, The Better

Like many renowned destinations, In Southport the best rental homes are booked early. To assure the best selection of properties, we suggest searching and reserving your Southport vacation home Six-Twelve months in advance, whenever you can. A lot of groups decide to begin their search over Thanksgiving, Christmas and New Years Eve gatherings.

Pick your Area and Vacation Week

Agreement can be tough between family, but once this challenging part is complete everything will begin to slide in place.

Bedrooms and Bed Sizes Matter

Keep a list of attendees. How many beds and bedrooms will you need? Bear in mind that most rentals list maximum guest capacity, which oftentimes includes sofa beds in the living area. You'll need to determine what is acceptable for the party. Specific descriptions of bedrooms and beds are commonly available on the internet. If not, communicate with the property owner before you book.

Create a Budget

Confirm that "New rental! Gorgeous Marsh Views! Book now for 20% discount!" suits your budget *during your desired week*. Make certain to get cost-sharing commitments from friends and family prior to reserving a pricey rental property. In most cases, one member of the group will be in charge of making the whole reservation and getting each family member's contribution.

Let's Discuss Amenities

What home features is the group trying to find? Is a screened-in deck a requirement? Does the property need to be beachfront, downtown, or near restaurants? Does the property have bikes and beach toys available for use throughout your stay? Create a list of priority amenities to guide filter your search.

Accessibility and Special Issues to consider

Do certain members of your crew have specialized needs? If wheel chair accessibility, elevators, pool lifts or other special equipment is needed, factor that into your search. Nearly all vacation rental listings will include a list of amenities.

Fido Approved

Remember to include your companion! Although quite a few rentals permit pets, guidelines and charges vary per rental. Type of animal, size and dog breeds might be limited. Make certain you read descriptions and contracts carefully. Extra fees may apply when pets are included.

Where to Search

. In addition to Homeaway, VRBO and Tripadvisor, we suggest searching Google for "Southport local vacation homes" for local property management companies. Apart from offering exceptional properties, local companies offer you exceptional service..

Negotiate the Price

When you have located the rentalhome of your dreams, double check to make sure your vacation dates are available.

Although not true for all properties, many rental owners and property managers will negotiate rates. If the price isn't negotiable, the number of nights might be. Your best chance of a lower rate will be changing to a less desirable week.

Study the Total Agreement

Read through the entire contract and make sure you understand who is liable for:

  • Power bills
  • Internet Connectivity
  • Telephone service
  • Pool and hot tub heating
  • Pay Per View Movies
  • Cleaning Service
  • Trash collection
  • Maintenance policies
  • Check in & Check Out Key Exchange
  • Parking requirements

Get a total that incorporates state taxes, animal and other additional fees.

Cancelling your Rental

Cancellation policies vary for each property. Vacation home management companies and individual rental owners commonly offer their clients the option to purchase trip insurance. Trip insurance shields the renter against emergencies and weather events, It provides reassurance should tragedy strike.

Complete the Reservation

Once you think you've found "the one", begin the reservation process. You will likely be required to submit a security deposit at time of booking.

Know Who to Call

Put the property manager's contact information into your phone and wallet for quick access to answers throughout your visit.

Good luck on booking your vacation rental! You're on the right path to a fantastic vacation!

During your Stay

  • Record the condition of the rental unit right away. If you find damages, or if fixes are required get in touch with the home manager without delay. This can prevent disputes during checkout.
  • When there is any ambiguity about parking, rules of the house, condo access, swimming pool operations, etc... we suggest you ask the property manager promptly. A brief phone call avoids many head aches.
  • Don't forget to respect your nearby neighbors. . Remember the golden rule and treat others the same way you'd like to be treated by visitors next to your primary residence.
  • Ask a local. Locals are a fantastic source of tips.
  • Make certain to protect the owner (and your things!) by keeping the property secured when you are away, just like you would in your own home.

Check Out Time

  • Make sure you've packed all of your personal belongings. Sweep all the rooms in the home for left-behind items. Inspect bath rooms, the garage, kitchen cabinets, patios, the pool area, and anywhere else your gear might "hide".
  • Once everything is out, perform a walk-through of the property to confirm no property damage occurred during your stay. We advise walking through with the property manager whenever you can (this isn't always the case).. If the property owner is not available, make sure that you take photos of the property to record its condition.
  • How do you feel about your stay? Many rental home management companies and vacation rental websites permit customers to offer feedback. If the rental and/or property manager was top notch, they will likely appreciate your compliments. If something went wrong, we recommend being pleasant but genuine regarding your experience. Top property owners and managers will try very hard to solve the problem.

Iterate

Hold a debrief with your traveling companions. Does everyone want to return next year? Maybe everything was ideal and you're happy to re-book the same rental for your next vacation. Otherwise, you've acquired valuable experience that will help with your next search.

Victory Beach Vacations

Victory Beach Vacations

Visitors who are on the hunt for the postcard-perfect vacation rental in the heart of the Carolina Beach or Kure Beach area will find an enticing selection and plenty of friendly customer service when they rent through Victory Beach Vacations. Based in Carolina Beach in the coastal Cape Fear region, Victory Beach Vacations has more than 100 vacation rentals in all shapes and sizes to ensure that every vacationing family can find their dream home away from home on the beach.   When you book your Cape Fear getaway with Victory Beach Vacations, the fun doesn’t end when you leave the beach, it continues with an array of privately-owned properties outfitted with all of the amenities needed for a fabulous beach vacation.   Jenna Lanier, General Manager, explains that her family first opened the rental and property management business in 2002. At the forefront of Victory Beach operations is Lanier’s mother, Caroline Meeks. Meeks is both the Broker in Charge and co-owner with husband, Buck Meeks, who manages the Field Services team with Lanier’s husband, Scott.   For nearly 20 years, the Victory Beach team has worked tirelessly to establish a network of top-of-the-line rental properties for Cape Fear visitors to enjoy. “As far as our properties go,” explains Lanier, “they are all updated, well-furnished and appointed. “We have always performed post-cleaning inspections and since the pandemic, have put freshly laundered duvets over all of the comforters between rentals.”   Lanier emphasizes how important the guests experience is “we strive to give our guests a relaxing, stress free, memorable vacation.” This emphasis on customer service has led to Victory Beach Vacations having a 4.8 Google rating with over 300 reviews by happy owners and guests. In addition to Victory Beach’s superior sanitation practices, the company offers properties for every type of visitor. Choose from luxury oceanfront houses and condos to more reasonbly priced 2nd row properties with oceanviews. Many properties include pools and hot tubs as well, perfect for outdoor entertaining, and many are dog friendly.   Lanier also notes that all properties are within walking or driving distance to Pleasure Island’s main attractions – Carolina Beach and Kure Beach. The former, as described by Lanier, is the more commercialized of the two destinations and features a boardwalk, outdoor dining options and a plethora of weekly activities including fireworks, live music, amusement park pop-ups, and movies under the stars. Kure Beach offers a more residential feel with its fishing pier, intimate restaurants and family favorite, North Carolina Aquarium at Fort Fisher.More water fun awaits, too. “There is a harbor and a canal that feed into the intercoastal. We have several properties on the harbor so guests can bring their boat, kayak, [or jet ski] and travel between islands,” says Lanier.   A stay with Victory Beach Vacations is an annual pilgrimage for most. “A large percentage of guests are previous guests. Some even reserve the same property for the next year as they’re checking out,” Lanier says. “It’s almost like it’s their personal vacation home.”   Even before guests arrive at their vacation destination, the Victory Beach Vacations’ website greets them with a live beach cam and exquisite aerial footage of both Carolina and Kure Beaches.
