Our top Southport rental booking tips:

Getting the most from your spending budget:

  • In the Southport area, The earlier your group can book a vacation rental, the easier your search will be. The best properties are reserved early. Reserving your vacation property up to twelve months before your vacation is recommended. Holidays such as Christmas and Thanksgiving are excellent times to search for and reserve your rental home.
  • Booking in Fall or Spring months is one of our best tips for saving money on your vacation. Rates are lower, and you'll find a larger selection of acceptable properties. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a Southport vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation near the ocean? Christmas, Thanksgiving, and New Years Eve are great times to gather with loved ones at your favorite beach.
  • Veterans and Active Duty Military members may qualify for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective vacation rental company or host whether your family qualifies for a discount.
  • Management companies and individual rental owners typically offer guests an option to add trip insurance. Trip insurance, which normally will cost between 1% - 5% of the booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for missed vacation time as a result of medical-related emergencies or weather, as well as ensuing additional evacuation charges, such as an unanticipated hotel or extra gasoline expenses. Trip insurance might be a a life-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your host for details.
  • Look for your local visitors guide upon checking in. If your rental home doesn't have one, you can find them at local shops and visitor centers. In addition to great articles, visitor guide magazines have money saving offers on nearby attractions, tours, restaurants, and shops.

Planning and choosing a perfectrental:

  • Decide how many bedrooms and the bed configuration your group needs. Old North State of Mind: Cozy Cottage, Dog Friendly Home with Fenced Yard has 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms.
  • Specific details about bedrooms and bed types is usually available online. If not, call the property owner before you reserve your home. Remember that most properties list maximum guest capacity, which often includes pull out couches in living rooms.
  • Some properties allow pets, and others don't. Allowable types of pet, weight and breeds may be restricted, and added fees may apply. Ask the owner about allowable breeds and types before booking.
  • Are you visiting for a specific attraction or event? Use a map search to find nearby properties.
  • Suitable accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for persons with a disability. .

Know before you go:

  • We recommend storing the manager's information in your smartphone.
  • Property managers are available to help! Don't be shy to ask questions before, during, or after your stay.
  • Keep your rental home locked while you are out! Don't let crooks spoil your family vacation.
  • Note any damages to the rental upon arrival, and immediately send them to the host. We specifically recommend texts and e-mails, as they usually contain built-in time stamps that can be beneficial if there is a dispute.
  • Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking regulations can make a stay significantly more pleasurable. Be a good neighbor. You'll magnify your chance to make local friends, and resident neighbors are usually a fantastic resource to find the best local beaches and hangouts.
  • Don't forget to... Ask a local! Locals can often point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to charter a fishing boat, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for BBQ?
  • Don't leave anything behind! Before you drive away, take a walk through the rental to make sure you've collected all of your things. Remember to check bathrooms, garages, and back yards for hidden belongings. Clean the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
  • Go through the property a final time and look for any damage. We recommend walking through with the property manager whenever possible. If the manager is not available, take video and pictures of the property to record its condition.
  • Did you have a fantastic time? Most rental management companies make it easy for guests to provide comments. If your property and/or property manager was wonderful, they will likely appreciate your kind words. If anything was out of order and they failed to fix it within reason, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make a note as part of your feedback.
