Booking the best Oak Island rental home experience:

Getting the best rental value:

  • In the Southport area, The sooner your group can book a vacation home, the easier your search will be. The most desirable properties are booked early. Reserving your vacation home 6-12 months before your vacation is recommended. Holidays such as Christmas and Thanksgiving are excellent times to plan and reserve your rental.
  • Summertime is high season in Oak Island. To find the best value, consider changing your family's Southport vacation dates to the Spring or Fall seasons. May, September, and October offer warmer temperatures, less crowded beaches, and greatly reduced traffic.
  • Hosts and Property managers sometimes offer promotional rates for veterans. Make sure to check with your property manager to see if rate reductions are available for your family.
  • Management companies and individual rental owners often offer renters an option to add vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which commonly will cost you between 1% - 5% of the stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any missed time as a result of personal medical-related issues or weather, as well as ensuing additional evacuation costs, such as an unexpected hotel stay or extra gas expenses. Trip insurance can be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen happens. Ask your host for program terms and fees.
  • Look for your local Southport area magazine upon checking in. If your rental doesn't have one, you can find them at local shops and fuel stations. In addition to great local stories, visitor guide magazines have offers and deals for nearby tours, shops, and attractions.

Selecting and booking your Southport vacation home:

  • Choose your vacation week and spending budget.
  • Decide how many beds and the bed configuration your family requires. The Blue Crab \/ 103 NE 73rd Street - Coastal Vacation Resorts has 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our Southport rentals search.
  • Precise information about bedrooms and bed counts is usually accessible on booking pages. Otherwise, call the property owner before you book your rental. Remember that most properties list the maximum guest capacity, which often includes sofa beds. You will need to determine what configuration is right for your trip.
  • Remember to include your furry companions! Many vacation homes allow animals, but guidelines and restrictions apply. Allowable pet type, breed, and size are often limited. Make sure to ask before booking, and study your agreement! Additional pet fees or applied to your contract.
  • If there's a specific Southport attraction you love, keep an eye out for homes that are either close by, or those that cater to your needs.
  • Suitable accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for persons with a disability. .

Considerations for your stay:

  • Add the property manager's information to your smartphone. Take a copy of arrival/departure procedures.
  • Ask questions. You may want instructions for a fireplace, television set or kitchen appliance. Contact your property manager. They are there to help! A brief text message can prevent quite a few issues.
  • Protect the property owner (and your things!) by locking and securing the home while you are gone, just like you would at home.
  • During check-in, record any damages to the rental property and immediately contact the property manager. Record all coorespondence.
  • Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking rules can make a stay more pleasurable. Be a good neighbor. You will enhance your chance to make local friends, and resident neighbors are a terrific source for finding the best local beaches.
  • Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Locals can typically help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to find the best seashells, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for shopping?
  • Just before checking out, take a walk-through to confirm you did not leave anything behind. Make sure to check dressers, closets, and bathrooms for hidden belongings. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
  • Inspect the property a final time and scan for any damage. We advise inspecting the property with the property manager whenever you can. If the host isn't available, remember to take photos and video of the property to record its condition.
  • Did your group have a terrific time? Most rental home management companies make it easy for clients to provide comments. If your rental property and/or property management company was wonderful, they will likely appreciate your kind words. If anything was amiss and they failed to fix it reasonably, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make it a point as part of your feedback.
