Strategies to get the best vacation rental experience:

Sticking to your rental budget:

  • In the Southport area, The sooner your group can reserve a vacation home, the better your selection will be. The best rental homes are booked very early. Reserving your vacation home 6-12 months before your vacation dates is recommended. Holiday gatherings are excellent times to search for and reserve your rental home.
  • Summer time is high season in the Southport area. To find the most suitable rental for your budget, we strongly suggest booking in Fall or Spring months. You'll benefit from lower rates, greater selection, gorgeous weather and the absence of giant crowds at local restaurants, tours, and activities.
  • Some property management companies offer special rates for veterans. It's always a good idea to check with your property manager to see if special offers are available for your family before you book.
  • Booking websites frequently offer renters an option to obtain trip insurance. Trip insurance, which normally costs 1% - 5% of the base booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any missed trip time as a result of personal medical-related emergencies or weather, as well as hurricane evacuation charges, such as an unexpected hotel stay or extra gasoline expenses. Trip insurance can be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen occurs. Ask the property owner for details.
  • Look for your local Southport visitors guide magazine when you arrive at the rental property. If your rental doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers. In addition to great information, visitor guide magazines have money saving offers on nearby accommodations, restaurants and tours.

Finding the perfect rental:

  • Choose vacation week and budget.
  • Determine how many bedrooms and the bed configuration you need. The Sea Palm, A Coastal Cottage Steps From The Beach!!! has 4 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms.
  • Specific descriptions of bedrooms and bed counts is commonly available on booking websites. Otherwise, email or call the property manager before booking your home. Note that most properties list maximum guest capacity, which frequently includes sofa beds and bunks. You will need to work out what is right for your vacation family.
  • If your family is traveling with pets, filter your search for a pet-friendly vacation rental. Make sure to ask for information on breed, weight, and type restrictions. Some property managers charge additional pet fees.
  • Are you visiting for a specific attraction or event? Use a map search to locate nearby rentals.
  • Proper accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for persons with a disability. Confirm all required amenities are available and included before reserving a rental.

Tips for a fantastic stay:

  • Review check in & check out procedures before traveling. Take a printed copy, and add a note with the instructions to your phone.
  • Hosts are great sources of help! Feel free to ask questions during your stay.
  • Ensure you protect the owner (and your things!) by locking the rental when you are out, just like you would at home.
  • At Check-in, document any damages to the property and immediately contact the property manager. Record all coorespondence.
  • Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like obnoxious visitors disrupting your peace and quiet. Apply the golden rule for best judgement. If they like you, locals might even recommend great beaches and scenic spots you would have not otherwise known!
  • Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Residents can frequently help. Who better to ask where to take kids for a treat, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for BBQ?
  • Don't leave anything behind! Just before you drive away, walk through the property to make sure you've collected all of your things. Remember to check bathrooms, garages, and back yards for hidden belongings. Clean the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
  • Please make sure to walk through the rental one final time and look for any damage. We advise walking through with the host whenever you can. If the manager isn't available, remember to take photographs of the property to record its condition.
  • Did your family have a great time? Many rental home management companies make it easy for clients to provide reviews. If your rental and/or property management company was great, they always love to hear your praise. If anything was defective and they failed to fix it reasonably, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make it a point as part of your comments.
