Vacation rental home tips:

When to visit Bald Head Island & When to book:

  • June, July, and August are the most expensive months in coastal NC. To find the best value, try changing your group's trip dates to the Spring or Fall months. May, September, and even October offer warm weather, , and greatly reduced traffic. Many vacationers use this strategy to reserve larger homes, or to reserve an oceanfront rental that would otherwise be unavailable or unaffordable during June, July, and August.
  • Book your vacation rental as soon as possible. Rental schedules often become available 12 months in advance (or in September just after Summertime ends). Many families book their Summer vacation rentals during holiday get-togethers. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
  • Active Duty and veterans of the US Armed forces may be qualified for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property manager or host if your group qualifies for a discount.
  • Property management companies typically offer renters an option to buy vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which generally will cost 1% - 5% of the booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for missed trip time as a result of medical-related emergencies or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional evacuation charges, such as an unexpected hotel overnight or additional gasoline expenses. Trip insurance might be a a bank account-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your host for additional information.
  • Find a copy of your local Southport area magazine when you check-in. If your rental doesn't have one, you can find them at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers. In addition to great information, visitors guide magazines contain money saving offers on nearby attractions, tours, restaurants, and shops.

Use filters to search efficiently:

  • Start by choosing a vacation week and a spending budget.
  • Decide how many bedrooms and what type of bedroom configuration your group needs. Condo with community pool and balcony with forest view, recently renovated has 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms.
  • Specific descriptions of bedrooms and bed types is normally available on booking websites. If they are not listed, email the property management company before you book the rental. Remember that most listings specify maximum guest capacity, which oftentimes includes sofa beds.
  • If there's a certain Southport beach you crave, keep an eye out for homes that are either near by, or those that cater especially to your desires.
  • Suitable accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for guests that require the use of a wheelchair. Confirm all necessary amenities are included before reserving a rental
  • If your family is traveling with pets, filter your search for a pet-friendly property. Ask for details on breed, weight, and type restrictions. Note that some property managers charge pet deposits and fees.

Some things to know before you go:

  • Get the owner's phone number and entry/exit procedures for your rental. We recommend storing the manager's information in your smartphone.
  • At Check-in, record any damages to the rental property and immediately contact the property manager. Keep records of all correspondence just in case a dispute arises.
  • Ask questions. You may want instructions for a fireplace, elevator or WIFI setup. Contact your property manager. They are there to help! A brief telephone call prevents many concerns.
  • Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking policies can make a stay significantly more pleasurable. You will magnify your chance to make local friends, and resident neighbors are usually a terrific source for finding the best local spots.
  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Neighbors can typically help you find exactly what you're looking for. Who better to ask where to launch your kayaks, have a great night out, or the best spots for BBQ?
  • Protect the rental owner (and your stuff!) by locking the rental while you are away, just like you would back home.
  • Don't leave anything behind! Just before you drive away, take a walk through the rental property to confirm you've collected all of your things. Remember to check bathrooms, garages, and back yards for hidden items. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
  • Inspect the property one final time and keep an eye out for damages to contents or the property itself. We recommend inspecting the property with the property manager whenever you can. If the host is not available, ensure that you take photos of the property to record its condition.
  • Remember to leave a review! Property managers rely on good ratings to compel more bookings. They'll be grateful for your review. Alternatively, if something went wrong, other vacationers will will be grateful for your review and help them have the best future vacation. Remember to be objective. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the property manager could control the issue, and if so, whether they responded quickly to fix it.

Victory Beach Vacations

Visitors who are on the hunt for the postcard-perfect vacation rental in the heart of the Carolina Beach or Kure Beach area will find an enticing selection and plenty of friendly customer service when they rent through Victory Beach Vacations. Based in Carolina Beach in the coastal Cape Fear region, Victory Beach Vacations has more than 100 vacation rentals in all shapes and sizes to ensure that every vacationing family can find their dream home away from home on the beach.   When you book your Cape Fear getaway with Victory Beach Vacations, the fun doesn’t end when you leave the beach, it continues with an array of privately-owned properties outfitted with all of the amenities needed for a fabulous beach vacation.   Jenna Lanier, General Manager, explains that her family first opened the rental and property management business in 2002. At the forefront of Victory Beach operations is Lanier’s mother, Caroline Meeks. Meeks is both the Broker in Charge and co-owner with husband, Buck Meeks, who manages the Field Services team with Lanier’s husband, Scott.   For nearly 20 years, the Victory Beach team has worked tirelessly to establish a network of top-of-the-line rental properties for Cape Fear visitors to enjoy. “As far as our properties go,” explains Lanier, “they are all updated, well-furnished and appointed. “We have always performed post-cleaning inspections and since the pandemic, have put freshly laundered duvets over all of the comforters between rentals.”   Lanier emphasizes how important the guests experience is “we strive to give our guests a relaxing, stress free, memorable vacation.” This emphasis on customer service has led to Victory Beach Vacations having a 4.8 Google rating with over 300 reviews by happy owners and guests. In addition to Victory Beach’s superior sanitation practices, the company offers properties for every type of visitor. Choose from luxury oceanfront houses and condos to more reasonbly priced 2nd row properties with oceanviews. Many properties include pools and hot tubs as well, perfect for outdoor entertaining, and many are dog friendly.   Lanier also notes that all properties are within walking or driving distance to Pleasure Island’s main attractions – Carolina Beach and Kure Beach. The former, as described by Lanier, is the more commercialized of the two destinations and features a boardwalk, outdoor dining options and a plethora of weekly activities including fireworks, live music, amusement park pop-ups, and movies under the stars. Kure Beach offers a more residential feel with its fishing pier, intimate restaurants and family favorite, North Carolina Aquarium at Fort Fisher.More water fun awaits, too. “There is a harbor and a canal that feed into the intercoastal. We have several properties on the harbor so guests can bring their boat, kayak, [or jet ski] and travel between islands,” says Lanier.   A stay with Victory Beach Vacations is an annual pilgrimage for most. “A large percentage of guests are previous guests. Some even reserve the same property for the next year as they’re checking out,” Lanier says. “It’s almost like it’s their personal vacation home.”   Even before guests arrive at their vacation destination, the Victory Beach Vacations’ website greets them with a live beach cam and exquisite aerial footage of both Carolina and Kure Beaches. See for yourself by scanning the QR code and call Victory Beach Vacations at 910.458.0868 to book your Cape Fear getaway. Start making your memories today! —Grace Silipigni
