Strategies for getting the perfect Southport rental home experience:

Money saving strategies:

  • Book your vacation home as soon as possible. Rental schedules usually become available twelve months in advance (or in September just after the Summer season ends). Many groups book their Summer vacations during holiday get-togethers. Book before these holidays for best selection.
  • Summertime is high season in Sunset Beach. Booking a rental in Spring or Fall is a good way to save on your vacation rental. Rental rates are lower, and you'll find a larger selection of acceptable properties.
  • Some hosts offer promotional rates for veterans. Remember to ask your property manager if discounts are available for your family before you book.
  • Management companies and individual rental owners usually offer customers an option to add trip insurance. Trip insurance, which commonly will cost anywhere between 1% - 5% of the base reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for missed time as a result of medical-related catastrophes or weather, as well as hurricane evacuation charges, such as an unexpected hotel or additional gasoline expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a bank account-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your property manager for details.
  • Look for your local Southport visitors guide magazine upon arrival. If your rental doesn't have one, you can find them at local shops and visitor centers. In addition to great local stories, visitors guides have discounts for nearby shops and restaurants.

Finding the perfect vacation home:

  • Start by choosing potential vacation weeks and a max budget.
  • Decide how many beds and the configuration you need. 3rd Floor 2 BR Golf Villa in Sunset Beach (RC106) has 2 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our Southport rental home search.
  • Precise descriptions of bedrooms and bed counts & types is normally available on booking websites. If you don't see them listed, reach out to the property owner before you reserve the vacation property. Remember that most properties list the max. guest capacity, which oftentimes includes pull-out couches. You will need to determine what configuration is optimal for your group.
  • If your family is vacationing with pets, you'll need to search for a pet-friendly property. Make sure to ask for information on breed, weight, and type requirements. Often, property managers charge pet deposits and fees.
  • Does your family require specific amenities? Most rental search websites include search filters for amenities.
  • Suitable accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for guests with disabilities. Confirm all necessary amenities are included before booking.

More tips for your visit:

  • Store the host's contact information in your smartphone and wallet.
  • Ask questions. You may want instructions for a hot tub, intercom or washer/dryer. Contact your owner. They are there to help! A brief text message prevents quite a few concerns.
  • Ensure you protect the owner (and your things!) by locking the rental when you are away, just like you would back home.
  • During check-in, note any damages to the property and immediately alert the host. Keep records of all coorespondence.
  • Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like troublesome visitors bothering your home life. Use the golden rule for common sense. Happy residents may even recommend great restaurants and places you would have never otherwise known about!
  • Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Locals can usually help you find exactly what you're looking for. Who better to ask where to find the best seashells, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for shopping?
  • Don't leave anything behind! Just before you drive away, walk through the rental to confirm you've collected all belongings. Check bathrooms, garages, and back yards for hidden treasure. Clean the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
  • Walk through the rental a final time and keep an eye out for damage. We advise walking through with the host whenever you can. If the host isn't available, remember to take video and pictures of the property to record its condition at check-out.
  • Remember to leave a review! Property managers rely on great feedback to inspire more bookings. They'll be much obliged for your review. Alternatively, if something went awry, other vacationing families will will be grateful for your experience and help them have the best future vacation. Be fair with your review. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the property manager could control the issue, and if so, whether they responded reasonably to solve it.

Victory Beach Vacations

Visitors who are on the hunt for the postcard-perfect vacation rental in the heart of the Carolina Beach or Kure Beach area will find an enticing selection and plenty of friendly customer service when they rent through Victory Beach Vacations. Based in Carolina Beach in the coastal Cape Fear region, Victory Beach Vacations has more than 100 vacation rentals in all shapes and sizes to ensure that every vacationing family can find their dream home away from home on the beach.   When you book your Cape Fear getaway with Victory Beach Vacations, the fun doesn’t end when you leave the beach, it continues with an array of privately-owned properties outfitted with all of the amenities needed for a fabulous beach vacation.   Jenna Lanier, General Manager, explains that her family first opened the rental and property management business in 2002. At the forefront of Victory Beach operations is Lanier’s mother, Caroline Meeks. Meeks is both the Broker in Charge and co-owner with husband, Buck Meeks, who manages the Field Services team with Lanier’s husband, Scott.   For nearly 20 years, the Victory Beach team has worked tirelessly to establish a network of top-of-the-line rental properties for Cape Fear visitors to enjoy. “As far as our properties go,” explains Lanier, “they are all updated, well-furnished and appointed. “We have always performed post-cleaning inspections and since the pandemic, have put freshly laundered duvets over all of the comforters between rentals.”   Lanier emphasizes how important the guests experience is “we strive to give our guests a relaxing, stress free, memorable vacation.” This emphasis on customer service has led to Victory Beach Vacations having a 4.8 Google rating with over 300 reviews by happy owners and guests. In addition to Victory Beach’s superior sanitation practices, the company offers properties for every type of visitor. Choose from luxury oceanfront houses and condos to more reasonbly priced 2nd row properties with oceanviews. Many properties include pools and hot tubs as well, perfect for outdoor entertaining, and many are dog friendly.   Lanier also notes that all properties are within walking or driving distance to Pleasure Island’s main attractions – Carolina Beach and Kure Beach. The former, as described by Lanier, is the more commercialized of the two destinations and features a boardwalk, outdoor dining options and a plethora of weekly activities including fireworks, live music, amusement park pop-ups, and movies under the stars. Kure Beach offers a more residential feel with its fishing pier, intimate restaurants and family favorite, North Carolina Aquarium at Fort Fisher.More water fun awaits, too. “There is a harbor and a canal that feed into the intercoastal. We have several properties on the harbor so guests can bring their boat, kayak, [or jet ski] and travel between islands,” says Lanier.   A stay with Victory Beach Vacations is an annual pilgrimage for most. “A large percentage of guests are previous guests. Some even reserve the same property for the next year as they’re checking out,” Lanier says. “It’s almost like it’s their personal vacation home.”   Even before guests arrive at their vacation destination, the Victory Beach Vacations’ website greets them with a live beach cam and exquisite aerial footage of both Carolina and Kure Beaches. See for yourself by scanning the QR code and call Victory Beach Vacations at 910.458.0868 to book your Cape Fear getaway. Start making your memories today! —Grace Silipigni
