How to book the best Oak Island rental home experience:

Find your perfect vacation home:

  • June, July, and August are the most expensive months in coastal NC. To get the best value, change your trip dates to the Spring or Fall shoulder seasons. May, September, and October offer pleasant weather, less crowded beaches, and reduced traffic.
  • The earlier your group can book a vacation home, the easier your search will be. The most desirable vacation rentals are reserved early. Booking your rental six to twelve months before your vacation is recommended. Christmas, Thanksgiving and New Years Eve are excellent times to search for and reserve your rental home.
  • Hosts and Property managers sometimes offer special rates for veterans. Remember to ask your host or property manager if rate reductions are available for your family.
  • Booking websites often offer customers an option to add trip insurance. Trip insurance, which usually costs between 1% - 5% of the reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for missed vacation time as a result of personal medical-related issues or weather, as well as evacuation costs, such as an unanticipated hotel or extra fuel expenses. Trip insurance might be a a life-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your host for program terms and fees.
  • Find a copy of your local visitors guide when you arrive at the rental property. If your rental property doesn't have one, you can find them at local shops and visitor centers. In addition to great local information, visitor guide magazines have money saving offers on nearby attractions, tours, restaurants, and shops.

Use filters to search efficiently:

  • Select a group lead, choose your vacation week, and choose a max budget.
  • Note the number bedrooms and the configuration your group requires. A Sloth's Retreat: Beach Home with Private Pool, Game Room and More! has 3 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms.
  • Precise descriptions of bedrooms and bed counts & types is normally accessible online. If you don't see them listed, contact the property owner before reserving the rental. Remember that most listings specify the maximum guest capacity, which usually includes sofa beds in living rooms.
  • If there's a particular Southport beach you are enamored with, look for rentals that are either nearby, or those that cater especially to your requirements.
  • Proper accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for persons with disabilities. Make certain to inquire about specialized equipment and wheel chair accessibility.
  • Traveling with pets? Although a number of vacation homes allow pets or animals, guidelines and costs vary per property. Allowable pet type, breed, and size are often limited. Remember to ask your host before booking, and study your rental agreement! Additional fees or costs could be applied to your contract.

More tips for your visit:

  • Add the owner's contact info to your phone. Take a copy of arrival/departure procedures.
  • Upon arrival, make note of any damages to the property and immediately alert the owner. Record all correspondence in case a dispute arises.
  • Hosts are great sources of help! Don't be shy to ask questions before, during, or after your stay.
  • Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like disagreeable visitors bothering your home life. Practice the golden rule for best judgement. Happy residents may even recommend great beaches and places you would have not otherwise known!
  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Residents can usually help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to get the best seafood, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for fishing?
  • Protect the owner (and your things!) by locking the rental when you are out, just like you would back home.
  • Double-check the rental property to confirm that you've packed all personal items at departure. Re-check bathrooms, garages, and back yards for hidden treasure. Clean the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
  • Go through the rental a final time and scan for damage. We recommend inspecting the property with the property manager whenever you can (often this isn't possible). If the host is not available, ensure that you take photos of the rental to record its condition at check-out.
  • Did your group have a great vacation? Many rental websites make it easy for vacationers to provide comments. If your rental property and/or host was terrific, they would love to hear about it. If anything was wrong and they failed to address it within reason, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make it a point as part of your comments.

Victory Beach Vacations

Visitors who are on the hunt for the postcard-perfect vacation rental in the heart of the Carolina Beach or Kure Beach area will find an enticing selection and plenty of friendly customer service when they rent through Victory Beach Vacations. Based in Carolina Beach in the coastal Cape Fear region, Victory Beach Vacations has more than 100 vacation rentals in all shapes and sizes to ensure that every vacationing family can find their dream home away from home on the beach.   When you book your Cape Fear getaway with Victory Beach Vacations, the fun doesn’t end when you leave the beach, it continues with an array of privately-owned properties outfitted with all of the amenities needed for a fabulous beach vacation.   Jenna Lanier, General Manager, explains that her family first opened the rental and property management business in 2002. At the forefront of Victory Beach operations is Lanier’s mother, Caroline Meeks. Meeks is both the Broker in Charge and co-owner with husband, Buck Meeks, who manages the Field Services team with Lanier’s husband, Scott.   For nearly 20 years, the Victory Beach team has worked tirelessly to establish a network of top-of-the-line rental properties for Cape Fear visitors to enjoy. “As far as our properties go,” explains Lanier, “they are all updated, well-furnished and appointed. “We have always performed post-cleaning inspections and since the pandemic, have put freshly laundered duvets over all of the comforters between rentals.”   Lanier emphasizes how important the guests experience is “we strive to give our guests a relaxing, stress free, memorable vacation.” This emphasis on customer service has led to Victory Beach Vacations having a 4.8 Google rating with over 300 reviews by happy owners and guests. In addition to Victory Beach’s superior sanitation practices, the company offers properties for every type of visitor. Choose from luxury oceanfront houses and condos to more reasonbly priced 2nd row properties with oceanviews. Many properties include pools and hot tubs as well, perfect for outdoor entertaining, and many are dog friendly.   Lanier also notes that all properties are within walking or driving distance to Pleasure Island’s main attractions – Carolina Beach and Kure Beach. The former, as described by Lanier, is the more commercialized of the two destinations and features a boardwalk, outdoor dining options and a plethora of weekly activities including fireworks, live music, amusement park pop-ups, and movies under the stars. Kure Beach offers a more residential feel with its fishing pier, intimate restaurants and family favorite, North Carolina Aquarium at Fort Fisher.More water fun awaits, too. “There is a harbor and a canal that feed into the intercoastal. We have several properties on the harbor so guests can bring their boat, kayak, [or jet ski] and travel between islands,” says Lanier.   A stay with Victory Beach Vacations is an annual pilgrimage for most. “A large percentage of guests are previous guests. Some even reserve the same property for the next year as they’re checking out,” Lanier says. “It’s almost like it’s their personal vacation home.”   Even before guests arrive at their vacation destination, the Victory Beach Vacations’ website greets them with a live beach cam and exquisite aerial footage of both Carolina and Kure Beaches.
