Tricks and tips to get the best vacation home experience:

Finding your perfect vacation home:

  • June, July, and August are the most expensive months in Sunset Beach. Reserving a rental home in Fall or Spring is a good way to save money on your vacation home. Rental rates are lower, and you'll find a larger selection of acceptable properties.
  • In the Southport area, The sooner your group can reserve a home, the easier your search will be. The best rental homes are booked early. Booking your rental six to twelve months before your vacation is recommended. Holidays such as Christmas and Thanksgiving are excellent times to search for and reserve your vacation rental.
  • Property management companies sometimes offer discounts or promotional rates for veterans and active duty military. Ask your property manager if rate reductions are available for your group.
  • Property managers often offer guests an option to obtain trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which usually will cost between 1% - 5% of the base stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for missed trip time as a result of medical-related issues or weather, as well as evacuation costs or charges, such as an unanticipated hotel overnight or additional fuel expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a welcome relief if the unforeseen happens. Ask your host for details.
  • Often, rental management companies supply Southport area visitors guides that include money-saving deals, either offered independently by local companies, or by way of a relationship with the property management company and the business itself. You can also find visitors guide and coupon books at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers.

Selecting the best vacation rental:

  • Start by selecting vacation dates and a maximum budget.
  • Decide how many beds and the configuration your group needs. At home on the sunset beach has 2 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms.
  • Precise descriptions of bedrooms and bed counts & types is normally available online. If not, call the property owner before you reserve your rental. Note that most listings specify maximum guest capacity, which oftentimes includes sofa beds and bunks.
  • Visiting for a single attraction? If so, use a map search to find nearby properties.
  • Appropriate accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for those with limited mobility. Remember to confirm all required amenities are available before reserving a rental
  • If your family is bringing pets, you'll need to find a pet-friendly property. Ask for information on breed, size, and type requirements. Usually, property owners charge additional pet fees.

Additional considerations:

  • Review check in & check out procedures before leaving home. Save the instructions to your phone, and take a printed backup.
  • Note any damages to the rental at check in, and immediately contact the property manager. We especially recommend texts and e-mails, as they usually contain time stamps that can be beneficial if there is a dispute.
  • Ask questions. You may need instructions for a garage door opener, elevator or kitchen appliance. Contact your host. They are there to help! A brief text message prevents quite a few problems.
  • Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like troublesome vacationers bothering your peace. Practice the golden rule for common sense. If they like you, locals might even recommend great local food and places you would have never otherwise known!
  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Neighbors can typically help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to book the best tours, have a great night out, or the best spots for fine dining?
  • Keep the property locked while you're gone! Don't let burglars ruin your family vacation.
  • Don't leave anything behind! Just before departing, take a walk through the rental property to make sure you've collected all of your things. Make sure to check bathrooms, garages, and back yards for hidden treasure. Clean out the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
  • Inspect the property a final time and look for any damage. We suggest walking through with the property manager whenever you can (often this isn't possible). If the manager isn't available, ensure that you take video of the rental to record its condition.
  • Remember to leave feedback! Property owners rely on great ratings to inspire future bookings. They'll be grateful for your feedback. Alternatively, if something went wrong, other vacationing families will appreciate that you share your feedback and help them have the best future vacation. Please be fair with your feedback If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the manager had any control over the issue, and if so, whether they responded expeditiously to remedy it.

Victory Beach Vacations

Visitors who are on the hunt for the postcard-perfect vacation rental in the heart of the Carolina Beach or Kure Beach area will find an enticing selection and plenty of friendly customer service when they rent through Victory Beach Vacations. Based in Carolina Beach in the coastal Cape Fear region, Victory Beach Vacations has more than 100 vacation rentals in all shapes and sizes to ensure that every vacationing family can find their dream home away from home on the beach.   When you book your Cape Fear getaway with Victory Beach Vacations, the fun doesn’t end when you leave the beach, it continues with an array of privately-owned properties outfitted with all of the amenities needed for a fabulous beach vacation.   Jenna Lanier, General Manager, explains that her family first opened the rental and property management business in 2002. At the forefront of Victory Beach operations is Lanier’s mother, Caroline Meeks. Meeks is both the Broker in Charge and co-owner with husband, Buck Meeks, who manages the Field Services team with Lanier’s husband, Scott.   For nearly 20 years, the Victory Beach team has worked tirelessly to establish a network of top-of-the-line rental properties for Cape Fear visitors to enjoy. “As far as our properties go,” explains Lanier, “they are all updated, well-furnished and appointed. “We have always performed post-cleaning inspections and since the pandemic, have put freshly laundered duvets over all of the comforters between rentals.”   Lanier emphasizes how important the guests experience is “we strive to give our guests a relaxing, stress free, memorable vacation.” This emphasis on customer service has led to Victory Beach Vacations having a 4.8 Google rating with over 300 reviews by happy owners and guests. In addition to Victory Beach’s superior sanitation practices, the company offers properties for every type of visitor. Choose from luxury oceanfront houses and condos to more reasonbly priced 2nd row properties with oceanviews. Many properties include pools and hot tubs as well, perfect for outdoor entertaining, and many are dog friendly.   Lanier also notes that all properties are within walking or driving distance to Pleasure Island’s main attractions – Carolina Beach and Kure Beach. The former, as described by Lanier, is the more commercialized of the two destinations and features a boardwalk, outdoor dining options and a plethora of weekly activities including fireworks, live music, amusement park pop-ups, and movies under the stars. Kure Beach offers a more residential feel with its fishing pier, intimate restaurants and family favorite, North Carolina Aquarium at Fort Fisher.More water fun awaits, too. “There is a harbor and a canal that feed into the intercoastal. We have several properties on the harbor so guests can bring their boat, kayak, [or jet ski] and travel between islands,” says Lanier.   A stay with Victory Beach Vacations is an annual pilgrimage for most. “A large percentage of guests are previous guests. Some even reserve the same property for the next year as they’re checking out,” Lanier says. “It’s almost like it’s their personal vacation home.”   Even before guests arrive at their vacation destination, the Victory Beach Vacations’ website greets them with a live beach cam and exquisite aerial footage of both Carolina and Kure Beaches.
