Tips for getting the best Wilmington rental home experience:

Find your perfect rental home:

  • In the Southport area, The sooner your group can book, the easier your search will be. The best vacation rentals are reserved early. Booking your vacation property up to 12 months before your vacation is recommended. Winter holidays are excellent times to search for and book your vacation home.
  • Summer months are high season in the Southport area. Book your vacation in Spring or Fall to enjoy gorgeous weather while saving money and avoiding crowded roads, restaurants, and activities. Many vacationers use this method to find larger homes within budget, or to book a beach front vacation rental that would otherwise be unavailable or unaffordable during the Summer months.
  • Property management companies sometimes offer discounts for veterans. Check with your property manager to see if special offers are available for your group before you book.
  • Management companies and individual rental owners usually offer guests an option to obtain trip insurance. Trip insurance, which normally will cost you anywhere between 1% - 5% of the base booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for missed time as a result of personal medical-related issues or weather, as well as hurricane evacuation costs, such as an unexpected hotel overnight or extra gas expenses. Trip insurance can be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen happens. Ask your property manager for more information.
  • Look for your local visitors guide upon checking in. If your rental property doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local shops and visitor centers. In addition to great local information, visitor guide magazines have discounts for local accommodations, restaurants and tours.

Use filters to search efficiently:

  • Select a designated group leader, select your vacation dates, and choose a budget.
  • Decide how many bedrooms and what type of bedroom configuration your family requires. Central 1940’s Wrightsville Bungalow, Renovated and Close to Beach\/Downtown!!! has 2 bedrooms and 1 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our rentals search.
  • Precise information about bedrooms and bed counts & types is regularly available on booking websites. If they are not listed, email or call the property manager before you book your rental. Note that most properties list the maximum guest capacity, which frequently includes pull-out couches and bunk beds. You will need to work out what is optimal for your vacation family.
  • Some rental properties allow pets, and others don't. Acceptable types of family pet, weight and breeds may be restricted, and added fees may apply. Ask the property manager about allowable breeds and types before booking.
  • If there's a certain Southport destination you are crazy about, keep an eye out for properties that are either near by, or those that cater to your desires.
  • Proper accessibility can make or break a vacation for persons with a disability. Confirm all necessary amenities are included before booking.

More tips for your visit:

  • Take a copy of the property manager's contact number and arrival/departure procedures for your rental home. We recommend storing the host's contact information in your smartphone.
  • Hosts are great sources of help! Feel free to ask any questions during your stay.
  • Lock your vacation home while you're out and about. Protect the owner's property and your stuff!
  • To ensure that damages aren't linked to your family's stay, inspect for any problem areas upon check in. Contact the rental manager right away to document any damages. If there is a dispute about who is responsible, having the recorded issues and contact attempts will be valuable.
  • Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like unpleasant vacationers bothering your peace. Use the golden rule for common sense. If they like you, locals might even recommend great local food and scenic spots you would have not otherwise known about!
  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Neighbors can often help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to charter a fishing boat, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for crabbing?
  • Re-check the property to confirm that you've packed all belongings on check-out day. Re-check garages, decks, and cabinets for hidden items. Clean out the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
  • Walk through the rental one final time and keep an eye out for any damage. We advise walking through with the property manager whenever you can. If the manager is not available, remember to take video and pictures of the property to record its condition at check-out.
  • Did your group have a wonderful stay? Many rental home management companies make it easy for vacationers to provide feedback. If your rental property and/or property management company was great, they will likely appreciate your kind words. If anything was wrong and they failed to fix it reasonably, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make a note as part of your review.
