How to find the best Oak Island rental home experience:

Getting the most from your spending budget:

  • Summer is high season in the Southport area. Booking in Spring or Fall is our favorite way to save money on your vacation home. Rental rates are lower, and you'll find a better selection of acceptable homes. Many vacationers use this method to find larger homes within budget, or to reserve an oceanfront vacation rental that would otherwise be unavailable or unaffordable during the Summer. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a Southport vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation on the coast? Christmas, Thanksgiving, and New Years Eve are great times to gather with friends and family at your favorite beach.
  • Reserve your vacation home as early as possible. Rental schedules often become available 12 months in advance (or in September just after Summertime ends). Many groups book their Summer vacations during holiday gatherings. Book before these holidays for best selection.
  • Active Duty and veterans of the US Armed forces may be qualified for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property manager whether your family qualifies for a special promotion or discount.
  • Property management companies often offer guests an option to buy vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which costs between 1% - 5% of the base booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for days missed as a result of medical-related issues or weather, as well as ensuing additional evacuation charges, such as an unanticipated hotel or extra fuel expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a welcome relief if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your property manager for program terms and fees.
  • Look for your local Southport visitors guide magazine when you arrive at the rental property. If your rental home doesn't have one, you can find them at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers. In addition to great information, visitor guides have money saving offers on local restaurants, attractions, and tours.

Planning, selecting, and booking the bestvacation home:

  • Start by selecting your vacation dates and a spending budget.
  • Note the number beds and the configuration your group requires. Coastal home with enclosed yard, close to beach and local attractions has 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms.
  • Specific descriptions of bedrooms and bed counts is often available on booking pages. Otherwise, email or call the property manager before booking the home. Note that most properties list the max. guest capacity, which typically includes sofa beds in living rooms. You will need to determine what configuration is right for your trip.
  • Visiting for a single event? Use a map search to find nearby rentals.
  • Suitable accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for guests with disabilities. .
  • If your group is bringing pets, you'll need to search for a rental that allows animals. Request information on breed, size, and type requirements. Note that some property managers charge additional pet fees.

More tips for your visit:

  • Put the owner's contact information in your smartphone.
  • To make certain damages aren't attributed to your stay, make a record of any problem areas when you arrive. E-mail the rental manager immediately to relay any damages. If there is a dispute about legal responsibility later, having a record of issues and contact attempts will be very helpful.
  • Ask questions. You may want instructions for a hot tub, elevator or kitchen appliance. Contact your host. They are there to help! A brief call prevents lots of problems.
  • Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like obnoxious visitors disrupting your peace. Apply the golden rule for best judgement. If they like you, locals might even recommend great beaches and attractions you would've not otherwise known!
  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Locals can typically help. Who better to ask where to charter a fishing boat, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for crabbing?
  • Protect the property owner (and your things!) by locking the rental while you are out, just like you would at home.
  • Upon check-out, complete a final walk-through to make sure you didn't forget any personal items. Check dressers, closets, and bathrooms for hidden treasure. Clean out the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
  • Inspect the rental a final time and keep an eye out for damage. We recommend inspecting the property with the property manager whenever possible. If the property manager is not available, take pictures of the property to record its condition.
  • Did your group have a great time? Many rental home management companies make it easy for travelers to provide reviews. If your rental property and/or host was terrific, they will likely appreciate your kind words. If anything was defective and they failed to fix it in a reasonable manner, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make a note as part of your review.

Victory Beach Vacations

Visitors who are on the hunt for the postcard-perfect vacation rental in the heart of the Carolina Beach or Kure Beach area will find an enticing selection and plenty of friendly customer service when they rent through Victory Beach Vacations. Based in Carolina Beach in the coastal Cape Fear region, Victory Beach Vacations has more than 100 vacation rentals in all shapes and sizes to ensure that every vacationing family can find their dream home away from home on the beach.   When you book your Cape Fear getaway with Victory Beach Vacations, the fun doesn’t end when you leave the beach, it continues with an array of privately-owned properties outfitted with all of the amenities needed for a fabulous beach vacation.   Jenna Lanier, General Manager, explains that her family first opened the rental and property management business in 2002. At the forefront of Victory Beach operations is Lanier’s mother, Caroline Meeks. Meeks is both the Broker in Charge and co-owner with husband, Buck Meeks, who manages the Field Services team with Lanier’s husband, Scott.   For nearly 20 years, the Victory Beach team has worked tirelessly to establish a network of top-of-the-line rental properties for Cape Fear visitors to enjoy. “As far as our properties go,” explains Lanier, “they are all updated, well-furnished and appointed. “We have always performed post-cleaning inspections and since the pandemic, have put freshly laundered duvets over all of the comforters between rentals.”   Lanier emphasizes how important the guests experience is “we strive to give our guests a relaxing, stress free, memorable vacation.” This emphasis on customer service has led to Victory Beach Vacations having a 4.8 Google rating with over 300 reviews by happy owners and guests. In addition to Victory Beach’s superior sanitation practices, the company offers properties for every type of visitor. Choose from luxury oceanfront houses and condos to more reasonbly priced 2nd row properties with oceanviews. Many properties include pools and hot tubs as well, perfect for outdoor entertaining, and many are dog friendly.   Lanier also notes that all properties are within walking or driving distance to Pleasure Island’s main attractions – Carolina Beach and Kure Beach. The former, as described by Lanier, is the more commercialized of the two destinations and features a boardwalk, outdoor dining options and a plethora of weekly activities including fireworks, live music, amusement park pop-ups, and movies under the stars. Kure Beach offers a more residential feel with its fishing pier, intimate restaurants and family favorite, North Carolina Aquarium at Fort Fisher.More water fun awaits, too. “There is a harbor and a canal that feed into the intercoastal. We have several properties on the harbor so guests can bring their boat, kayak, [or jet ski] and travel between islands,” says Lanier.   A stay with Victory Beach Vacations is an annual pilgrimage for most. “A large percentage of guests are previous guests. Some even reserve the same property for the next year as they’re checking out,” Lanier says. “It’s almost like it’s their personal vacation home.”   Even before guests arrive at their vacation destination, the Victory Beach Vacations’ website greets them with a live beach cam and exquisite aerial footage of both Carolina and Kure Beaches.
