About this Property

ONE FULL SUMMER WEEK STILL AVAILABLE - Aug 21-21, 2021

HOME UPDATES
The updates never end! With two kiddos grown and flown, we took the home off the rental market this past fall/winter. We've had a lot of time to appreciate the beach off season AND that means additional time for projects! A sampling of 2021 updates: an upsized and freshly refinished dining room table and chairs, new interior paint (select rooms), new door hardware, refreshed modern ceiling fan/light in main room, general exterior cleaning/painting, a new ramp to the dock, new floor/vanities/faucets/mirrors in all four bathrooms, and a fenced in yard. We've tried our most first-rate to keep our photos current but know there may be slight differences from what you see and what is actually at the home - the home is ALWAYS better than the photos! For the Fall of 2021, we plan to completely repaint the home inside and out as well as replace the carpet. Work is scheduled to begin late August.

RENTAL DETAIL
RENT DIRECTLY FROM THE OWNERS (Many homes advertised on Vacation Rental By Owner are managed by commercial unit managers.)

SUMMER (June-August) - WEEKLY units ONLY, Saturday to Saturday, NO exceptions. We are not a hotel. Please accept AT LEAST 5-day advance notice for a rental to complete paperwork, collect payment, and for us to prepare the home for your stay. The ONLY payment method is credit card via Vacation Rental By Owner's secure payment process. We do not receive or store your credit card information. Vacation Rental By Owner holds all funds from us until your holiday begins. If the dates are not showing open on the Vacation Rental By Owner calendar, they are already reserved by another guest.

To secure a holiday reservation, submit a Vacation Rental By Owner online inquiry. From such, we will discuss pricing and the rental agreement. We WILL NOT send you a payment request. You must initiate the renting via Vacation Rental By Owner. No holiday is guaranteed until both a signed rental agreement AND deposit payment are received – prices and availability are subject to change until your paperwork is processed. If your credit card is declined, you have a brief window of time with Vacation Rental By Owner to make payment, otherwise the holiday period becomes open for others. Rental agreements can be scanned/emailed or sent via mail directly to the owners (contact details on the agreement). Your rental rate is determined at time of renting - we cannot adjust costs post-renting. Extended stay units are possible during the summer, but at peak season costs. There are no discounted prices during summer months.

BOATING
If you bring a boat/jet skis, there is a boat ramp on the mainland side of the Sunset Beach bridge. There are directions on how to navigate from the boat ramp to our canal and dock on our website. Note that the canal and parts of the waterway from the Intracoastal to the canal are VERY shallow. We have a 17 foot skiff that typically clears during medium to high tide, but bigger watercraft may not. Low tide is difficult all around, especially if you are not familiar with the waterways. Dredging is approved but not yet scheduled. We do not control the dredging schedule and must comply with local authorities once dredging begins - this could affect access to the dock behind the home and/or to the waterway in general. There are no rental refunds in the event of dredging or that your boat does not clear properly or if there is unforeseen damage to our dock.

GENERAL INFO
Dreaming of a peaceful hideaway to the North Carolina coast? We've owned this home since 2008, and are always doing something to keep the unit updated and new. This is our home away from home and we want you to savor Sunset Beach just like our family does so. The unit is abundant sized for a modest family hideaway (with grandparents, cousins, or friends). The Island of Sunset Beach is also a great alternative to the mainland convention/golf villa hotels and condos.

The home has a big open floor plan on the main level and is gorgeously decorated. The kitchen is well-supplied. There are games and activities galore. Under the home you'll find tons of space to relax. Take the canoe or one of the kayaks down the canal to the Intracoastal waterway. The screened porch provides a great venue for an afternoon board game or dining al fresco. Savor sea, canal, and Intracoastal vistas from the decks and rear windows. Sun decks on the main and upper levels give alternative spots to the beach. We've enlargened the original front outdoor space and have solid wooden Adirondack chairs on all levels. Beach access is less than 300 feet from the home, and we give a great beach buggy for you to transport your beach essentials to and fro.

We welcome units from families and responsible adults over the age of 25. The home sleeps a max. of 8 people, this would include any children traveling with you. Check the floorplan to ensure the linens arrangements work for your group. Absolutely NO family dogs and cats and NO smoking in this home or anywhere on the unit. Please look at the photos carefully - our home backs up to water and has many decks and interior open railings. Keep this in mind if you are visiting with younger children.

ABOUT SUNSET BEACH
Sunset Beach is the Southern-most barrier island on the North Carolina coast and roughly 20 mins. from North Myrtle Beach and very close to Calabash (seafood!). Sunset Beach is one of North Carolina’s most calming beaches with over 200 feet of natural dunes before the first row of homes. The mood is peaceful and family-aligned, even during peak season. One of the Nation’s most cute wildlife preserves – Bird Island – is a brief walk down the beach. Visit the Kindred Spirit mailbox - an inspiration for Nicholas Sparks's latest novel "Every Breath." Observe deer, wild goats, sea turtles, and other sea life as well as enjoy miles of undeveloped dunes and marsh areas.

If you are a golfer, you don't have to travel far to enjoy dozens of courses. We are close to many local conference centers (Sea Trail is one), making our home a classy alternative to hotel lodging.

How to Save Money on Your Rental

  • Many management companies and vacation homes supply Southport area discount catalogs that feature deals, either offered independently by vendors, or utilizing a relationship between the property manager and the local itself. Search for these catalogs and coupon books, as this allows vacationers to discover the very same wonderful attractions at a generally considerable discounted.
  • Could you adjust your vacation week? The off-peak seasons can offer great rates on rental properties.
  • Active Duty and veterans of the US Armed forces may be able to get discounts. Make sure to ask property owner to see if your vacationing crew is eligible for a reduced price.
  • Some rentals are practically designed to serve particular customers, whether it is beachfront rentals with weekly fishing pier passes, city-center homes with nearby access to night life or waterfront homes that have their own windsurfing launching areas. If there's a particular Southport atteaction that you love, be on the lookout for rental properties that cater especially to you.
  • Give thought to purchasing trip insurance together with your lease agreement. Trip insurance, which generally costs between 1% - 5% of the basic vacation rental cost, provides visitors reimbursement of their vacation expenses for any nights missed as a result of health related emergencies or storms, and additionally ensuing extra hurricane evacuation costs or charges, like an unexpected motel stay or extra gas.

The Rental Process

You might be shocked to learn just how many vacation rentals are available at your destination. Vacation home accommodations have gained in popularity with the rise of international search sites like Tripadvisor and VRBO.

Rental homes are commonly owner operated or managed by rental management companies. For property owners not directly engaged in the management of their rental, management companies are instrumental in helping guests with booking, check-in, cleaning, and any repairs and maintenance issues that may arise.

Seasoned Southport vacationers have discovered several tips and tricks over the years when it comes to renting rental homes, however many newcomers will be delighted to realize that many of these "tricks" are in plain sight, if you understand where they should look.

Where to find and book the best vacation home:

Before you start to book "Island home-On Canal, Near Beach - Aug 21-28 available (sleeps 8)", review our short collection of things to consider.

The Sooner You Start, The Better The Selection

Southport rental properties start booking very early. To assure the very best choice of vacation homes, we recommend searching and booking your Southport getaway Six-12 months in advance, whenever you can. Christmas, Thanksgiving and New Years are excellent times to find and reserve your rental..

Decide on a Town and Time

Begin by deciding which specific area of Southport you want to explore, and the choose trip dates.

Decide on a Size

Keep a list of attendees. How many beds and bedrooms will you need? Be mindful that a lot of vacation rentals list maximum guest capacity, which usually includes sofa beds in the family room. It is important to figure out what is suitable for the company. Precise descriptions of bedrooms and beds are usually accessible online. If not, speak to the property owner before you book.

What Exactly Are You Willing to Shell out?

The majority of vacation homes are advertised with a price range. Confirm the price for your preferred stay. It might be at the high end of the range. If a few individuals or families are sharing the cost, check that each group knows their obligation and has agreed to a maximum they are prepared to chip in. One member of your company will need to be responsible for getting contributions and accepting responsibility for the complete rental price at time of booking.

Vacation home Amenities

What home features is your group trying to find? Is a screened-in deck a requirement? Does the property need to be oceanfront, downtown, or in close proximity to wildlife? Will the rental have bicycles and body boards available for use as part of your stay? Make a list of priority conveniences to facilitate filter your search.

Special Considerations

Often times the senior generation has trouble with staircases. If wheel chair accessibility, elevators, pool lifts or other specialized devices are needed, include that into your search. Almost all rental home listings include a list of amenities.

Fido Approved

Are you or other people in the crew visiting with a pet? Pet guidelines are different at each rental property. Read descriptions carefully. Read your contract carefully! Charges may apply when animals are included.

It Is Time to Search

Many internet resources exist to match visitors with rental home owners.. In addition to Homeaway, VRBO and Tripadvisor, we advise searching Google for "Southport local vacation homes" for local rental management companies. Local rental home management companies pride themselves on a top-quality vacation experience.

Negotiate the Price

Re-read the description to make sure the rental has everything that you need. If it is lacking, the rental management company might know of comparable homes that fit your desires and budget..

While not true for all rental properties, many owners and property managers will negotiate rates. If the price isn't negotiable, the number of nights might be. This is more effective through the off-peak season when many homes sit empty.

Study the Total Contract

It is advisable to know which services are included:

  • Utilities
  • Internet Connectivity
  • Phone service
  • Pool Heating
  • Cable and pay-per-view TV
  • Daily Cleaning (If Available)
  • Trash collection
  • Maintenance policies
  • Key exchange
  • Parking requirements

In addition to the standard price, vacationers have to pay state taxes when renting "Island home-On Canal, Near Beach - Aug 21-28 available (sleeps 8)", in addition to various other fees that may be mandatory based upon their situation, including a dog fee, early check-in or later check-out fee, or a pool heat fee for private swimming pool usage during the autumn or spring months.

Cancellations Happen

Make sure you be aware of the cancellation policy before booking. Many rental home agreements include an option for trip insurance. Trip insurance defends the renter against emergency situations and weather events, It provides comfort should tragedy strike.

Reserve your Vacation Property

After you think you've found "the one", start the reservation process. You will probably need to submit a security deposit at time of reservation.

Get Contact Details

Put the rental manager's contact info into your smart phone and wallet for quick access to answers during your trip.

Congrats! All that is left is enjoying your vacation!

During your Stay

  • To make certain no damages are attributed to your stay, make a record of any trouble spots of the property. If you discover damages, or if fixes are needed contact the rental manager straight away. If there is a disagreement about liability later, having the recorded problems and communication attempts will probably be helpful.
  • Ask questions. You might need instructions for a fireplace, Television set or jacuzzi. Call your home manager. They are there to help. A phone call can save hours of problems.
  • Don't forget to be a good neighbor. Local people are likely to be as friendly to you as you are respectful of them. Remember the golden rule and treat others the same way you'd like to be treated by vacationers next to your residence.
  • Ask a local. Locals are a fantastic source of tips.
  • Enjoy your stay! Make sure you protect the rental owner (and your things!) by keeping the rental home secured when you are away, just like you would at home.

Checking Out

  • Check to make sure you've packed all of your things. Sweep all the rooms in the house for forgotten items. Inspect bath rooms, the garage, kitchen cabinets, outdoor patios, the swimming pool area, and anywhere else your personal property might "hide".
  • Once your things are all out, begin a walk-through of the rental to confirm no property damage occurred during your remain. If at all possible, do this walk-out review with the property manager present. If the property owner is not available, make sure that you take photos of the property to record its condition.
  • Did you enjoy yourself? Just about all property management companies and vacation rental websites permit travellers to provide comments. If your property and/or property manager was top notch, they will appreciate your compliments. If anything went wrong, we suggest being understanding but straightforward in regards to your experience. The best property owners and managers will try very hard to correct the issue.

Use Your Experience

Does everybody want to go back? We hope this guide steered you to a great rental home. If the rental property wasn't ideal, and you'll better know how to improve your search for the next trip.

Visitors who are on the hunt for the postcard-perfect vacation rental in the heart of the Carolina Beach or Kure Beach area will find an enticing selection and plenty of friendly customer service when they rent through Victory Beach Vacations. Based in Carolina Beach in the coastal Cape Fear region, Victory Beach Vacations has more than 100 vacation rentals in all shapes and sizes to ensure that every vacationing family can find their dream home away from home on the beach.   When you book your Cape Fear getaway with Victory Beach Vacations, the fun doesn’t end when you leave the beach, it continues with an array of privately-owned properties outfitted with all of the amenities needed for a fabulous beach vacation.   Jenna Lanier, General Manager, explains that her family first opened the rental and property management business in 2002. At the forefront of Victory Beach operations is Lanier’s mother, Caroline Meeks. Meeks is both the Broker in Charge and co-owner with husband, Buck Meeks, who manages the Field Services team with Lanier’s husband, Scott.   For nearly 20 years, the Victory Beach team has worked tirelessly to establish a network of top-of-the-line rental properties for Cape Fear visitors to enjoy. “As far as our properties go,” explains Lanier, “they are all updated, well-furnished and appointed. “We have always performed post-cleaning inspections and since the pandemic, have put freshly laundered duvets over all of the comforters between rentals.”   Lanier emphasizes how important the guests experience is “we strive to give our guests a relaxing, stress free, memorable vacation.” This emphasis on customer service has led to Victory Beach Vacations having a 4.8 Google rating with over 300 reviews by happy owners and guests. In addition to Victory Beach’s superior sanitation practices, the company offers properties for every type of visitor. Choose from luxury oceanfront houses and condos to more reasonbly priced 2nd row properties with oceanviews. Many properties include pools and hot tubs as well, perfect for outdoor entertaining, and many are dog friendly.   Lanier also notes that all properties are within walking or driving distance to Pleasure Island’s main attractions – Carolina Beach and Kure Beach. The former, as described by Lanier, is the more commercialized of the two destinations and features a boardwalk, outdoor dining options and a plethora of weekly activities including fireworks, live music, amusement park pop-ups, and movies under the stars. Kure Beach offers a more residential feel with its fishing pier, intimate restaurants and family favorite, North Carolina Aquarium at Fort Fisher.More water fun awaits, too. “There is a harbor and a canal that feed into the intercoastal. We have several properties on the harbor so guests can bring their boat, kayak, [or jet ski] and travel between islands,” says Lanier.   A stay with Victory Beach Vacations is an annual pilgrimage for most. “A large percentage of guests are previous guests. Some even reserve the same property for the next year as they’re checking out,” Lanier says. “It’s almost like it’s their personal vacation home.”   Even before guests arrive at their vacation destination, the Victory Beach Vacations’ website greets them with a live beach cam and exquisite aerial footage of both Carolina and Kure Beaches.
