Update 5/28/2025 - We have lowered our weekly peak season prices and are also offering an additional 10% discount for bookings during the two remaining open weeks in July and August 2025 (July 12-19 & Aug 16-23). Discount automatically applied to the Vacation Rental By Owner rental rate calculation. [Note taxes and Vacation Rental By Owner costs are non-negotiable and do not pass through to the property owners.]

Parking is NOT an issue when you stay at our home - we are just yards from the beach access. Plenty of room for you and guests (up to 4 cars). You also have access to our fantastic 'beach buggie' to transport all your essentials to/from the sand.

SUMMER 2025 (June, July, August) - WEEKLY units ONLY, SATURDAY to SATURDAY, NO exceptions. If your desired dates are not open on the calendar, they are already reserved by another guest. We will not negotiate switching vacation dates with another confirmed rental.

HOME DETAILS: *New for 2025* Rental INCLUDES LINENS - bed sheets, bath towels (for up to 8 guests), bath mats, and kitchen towels included. All beds also have blankets, quilts, and pillows.

2025 House updates: New beds and box springs for the King and Queen (2) bedrooms. New carpet throughout. Screened porch facelift complete. Two new and very efficient HVAC units with intelligent thermostats installed.

We try to keep our photos current. Just know there may be slight differences between the Vacation Rental By Owner photos and the actual home. The home is ALWAYS better than the photos!

RENTAL PROCESS: You rent directly from the Owners. (Many Vacation Rental By Owner homes are managed by commercial property managers.)

PAYMENT PROCESS: The ONLY payment method is credit card via Vacation Rental By Owner's secure payment process. Owners do not receive or store your credit card information. Vacation Rental By Owner holds ALL funds from Owners until your vacation start date. Only the rental fee and cleaning/internet/linen costs are distributed to owners. Vacation Rental By Owner collects/pays all applicable taxes. Vacation Rental By Owner also assesses a guest services fee and a payment processing fee. These Vacation Rental By Owner costs are not passed to the Owners, nor are they negotiable.

HOW TO BOOK: To secure a vacation reservation, submit a Vacation Rental By Owner online inquiry. From such, Owners will confirm pricing and share the rental agreement. Owners WILL NOT proactively send Guest a payment request. Guest must initiate booking via Vacation Rental By Owner. This is to protect both events from potential fraud. No vacation is guaranteed until BOTH the deposit payment AND the signed rental agreement are received – rates and availability are subject to change until your paperwork is processed. If your credit card is declined, you have a short window of time with Vacation Rental By Owner to make payment, otherwise the vacation period becomes open for others to book. Rental agreement can be scanned/emailed or sent via snail mail directly to Owners (contact details on the agreement). Your rental rate is determined at time of booking - rates cannot be adjusted post-booking. Occasional booking specials apply only to reservations made during the designated time period. Multi-week summer bookings are welcome; however, there is no discount to the rental rate.

BOATING: If you bring a boat or jet ski(s), there is a boat ramp on the mainland side of the Sunset Beach bridge. Dredging (2024) has improved water access. We have a 17-foot skiff that clears, but bigger watercraft may be challenged. There are no rental refunds in the event your boat does not clear properly or if there is unforeseen damage to the dock preventing its use.

GENERAL INFO: Dreaming of a peaceful hideaway to the North Carolina coast? We have vacationed at Sunset Beach since early 1990s. We purchased this home in 2008 (and owned a separate beach bungalow on the island for many years before). We are always doing something to keep the property refreshed and fresh. This is our home away from home and we want you to savor Sunset Beach just like our family. The property is decent sized for a modest family hideaway (with grandparents, cousins, or friends).

The home has an open floor plan on the main level and is attractively furnished. The kitchen is well-equipped. There are many games and activities. Under the home you will find additional space to relax. Take the well-adored canoe or one of the three kayaks down the canal to the Intracoastal waterway. The screened porch provides a great venue for an afternoon board game or dining al fresco. Appreciate ocean, canal, and Intracoastal vistas from the decks and many windows. Sun decks on the main and upper levels provide alternative spots to the beach. We expanded the original front deck and have solid wood Adirondack chairs on all three levels. Public beach access is ~300 feet from the home. Guests may appreciate our marvelous 'beach buggy' for simple transport of beach essentials. A modest assortment of beach chairs also available for Guest use.

We welcome units from families and responsible adults over the age of 25 (the person who signs the rental agreement must be present on the property throughout the rental period). The home sleeps a max. of 8 people (adults and any kids traveling with you). Review the floorplan carefully to ensure the bedroom/linens arrangements work for your group.

Absolutely NO FAMILY PETS and NO smoking in this home or anywhere on the property. Our home backs up to water and has many decks and interior open railings. Keep this in mind if you are visiting with younger kids.

ABOUT SUNSET BEACH: Sunset Beach is the Southern-most barrier island on the North Carolina coast. It is a short drive to Calabash (Seafood Capital of the South) and ~20-min. drive to North Myrtle Beach. Sunset Beach is one of North Carolina’s most relaxing beaches with 200+ feet of natural dunes before the first row of homes. The ambiance is cozy and family-aligned, even during peak season. One of the Nation’s most handsome wildlife preserves – Bird Island – is a nice walk down beach (~2.5 miles from the home). Visit the Kindred Spirit mailbox – an inspiration for Nicholas Sparks's novel "Every Breath." Observe deer, wild goats, sea turtles, and other sea life as well as enjoy miles of undeveloped dunes and marsh areas.

If you are a golfer, you don't have to travel far to enjoy dozens of courses. We are close to many local conference centers (Sea Trail is one), making our home a nice alternative to hotel lodging.

Finding the best vacation property experience:

When to visit & When to reserve a rental home:

  • To get the best rental home within your budget, we highly recommend reserving in Fall or Spring months. You'll enjoy lower rates, better selection, gorgeous weather and the absence of giant crowds at local restaurants, tours, and activities. Many vacationers use this method to reserve larger homes, or to reserve a beach front rental that would otherwise be unavailable during June, July, and August.
  • Book your vacation home as soon as possible. Rental schedules generally become available 12 months in advance (or in September just after the Summer season ends). Many groups reserve their Summer rentals during Thanksgiving and Christmas get-togethers. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
  • Some hosts offer special rates for active duty military and veterans. It's always a good idea to check with your host or property manager to see if special offers are available for your group.
  • Booking websites frequently offer renters an option to purchase vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which commonly will cost you 1% - 5% of the base stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any missed trip time as a result of medical-related catastrophes or weather, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation costs or charges, such as an unexpected hotel or additional fuel expenses. Trip insurance might be a a life-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your property manager for additional information.
  • Often, management companies supply Southport area visitors guide magazines that include money-saving deals, either offered independently by local businesses, or by way of a relationship with the rental management company and the business itself. You can also find visitors guide and coupon books at local shops and grocery stores.

How to pick the best vacation rental in the Southport area:

  • Select a group leader, select your trip dates, and select a max budget.
  • Determine how many bedrooms and the configuration you need. Island Home-On Canal-Near Beach-Two Summer Weeks OPEN! has 4 bedrooms and 4 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our Southport rentals search.
  • Precise information regarding bedrooms and bed counts & types is almost always accessible on booking pages. Otherwise, email the property owner before you reserve the vacation home. Remember that most properties list the maximum guest capacity, which often includes pull out couches in living rooms.
  • If there's a specific Southport beach you love, look for homes that are either nearby, or those that cater to your needs.
  • Suitable accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for the less-mobile. Remember to confirm all required amenities are included before booking
  • Are you traveling with furry, four-legged family members? Many vacation homes allow animals, but guidelines and restrictions apply. Allowable pet type, breed, and size are often limited. Make sure to ask before booking, and study your agreement! Pet fees or charges might be applied to your agreement.

Have a fantastic stay:

  • We recommend storing the owner's information in your smartphone and wallet.
  • Upon check-in, note any damages to the rental property and immediately contact the property manager. Record all coorespondence.
  • Property managers are great sources of help! Feel free to ask any questions during your stay.
  • Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like loud vacationers disrupting your peace. Apply the golden rule for best judgement. If they like you, locals might even recommend great restaurants and places you would have not otherwise known!
  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Residents can often help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to find the fresh catch of the day, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for BBQ?
  • Ensure you protect the owner (and your stuff!) by keeping the rental locked up while you are out, just like you would back home.
  • Don't leave anything behind! Before departing, walk through the property to make sure you've collected all belongings. Make sure to check garages, decks, and cabinets for hidden items. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
  • Go through the property one final time and keep an eye out for damage. We advise walking through with the property manager whenever you can. If the host is not available, take photos of the property to record its condition at check-out.
  • After your trip, leave feedback! Hosts rely on good ratings to stimulate future bookings. They'll be grateful for your review. Alternatively, if something wasn't as described, other vacationing families will appreciate that you share your experience find their best vacation rental. Please be fair with your feedback If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the host could control the issue, and if so, whether they responded expeditiously to solve it.

Victory Beach Vacations

Visitors who are on the hunt for the postcard-perfect vacation rental in the heart of the Carolina Beach or Kure Beach area will find an enticing selection and plenty of friendly customer service when they rent through Victory Beach Vacations. Based in Carolina Beach in the coastal Cape Fear region, Victory Beach Vacations has more than 100 vacation rentals in all shapes and sizes to ensure that every vacationing family can find their dream home away from home on the beach.   When you book your Cape Fear getaway with Victory Beach Vacations, the fun doesn’t end when you leave the beach, it continues with an array of privately-owned properties outfitted with all of the amenities needed for a fabulous beach vacation.   Jenna Lanier, General Manager, explains that her family first opened the rental and property management business in 2002. At the forefront of Victory Beach operations is Lanier’s mother, Caroline Meeks. Meeks is both the Broker in Charge and co-owner with husband, Buck Meeks, who manages the Field Services team with Lanier’s husband, Scott.   For nearly 20 years, the Victory Beach team has worked tirelessly to establish a network of top-of-the-line rental properties for Cape Fear visitors to enjoy. “As far as our properties go,” explains Lanier, “they are all updated, well-furnished and appointed. “We have always performed post-cleaning inspections and since the pandemic, have put freshly laundered duvets over all of the comforters between rentals.”   Lanier emphasizes how important the guests experience is “we strive to give our guests a relaxing, stress free, memorable vacation.” This emphasis on customer service has led to Victory Beach Vacations having a 4.8 Google rating with over 300 reviews by happy owners and guests. In addition to Victory Beach’s superior sanitation practices, the company offers properties for every type of visitor. Choose from luxury oceanfront houses and condos to more reasonbly priced 2nd row properties with oceanviews. Many properties include pools and hot tubs as well, perfect for outdoor entertaining, and many are dog friendly.   Lanier also notes that all properties are within walking or driving distance to Pleasure Island’s main attractions – Carolina Beach and Kure Beach. The former, as described by Lanier, is the more commercialized of the two destinations and features a boardwalk, outdoor dining options and a plethora of weekly activities including fireworks, live music, amusement park pop-ups, and movies under the stars. Kure Beach offers a more residential feel with its fishing pier, intimate restaurants and family favorite, North Carolina Aquarium at Fort Fisher.More water fun awaits, too. “There is a harbor and a canal that feed into the intercoastal. We have several properties on the harbor so guests can bring their boat, kayak, [or jet ski] and travel between islands,” says Lanier.   A stay with Victory Beach Vacations is an annual pilgrimage for most. “A large percentage of guests are previous guests. Some even reserve the same property for the next year as they’re checking out,” Lanier says. “It’s almost like it’s their personal vacation home.”   Even before guests arrive at their vacation destination, the Victory Beach Vacations’ website greets them with a live beach cam and exquisite aerial footage of both Carolina and Kure Beaches.
