Strategies to get the very best rental experience:

Money saving strategies:

  • To find the best value, change your trip dates to the Spring or Fall months. May, September, and October offer excellent weather, fewer crowds, and reduced traffic. Many vacationers use this strategy to reserve larger homes, or to book a beach front vacation rental that would otherwise be unavailable or unaffordable during June, July, and August.
  • The earlier your group can book a vacation rental, the better your selection will be. The most desirable vacation homes are reserved very early. Booking your rental home 6-12 months before your vacation is recommended. Holidays such as Christmas and Thanksgiving are excellent times to plan and reserve your rental property.
  • Active Duty and veterans of the US Armed forces may be qualified for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property owner if your vacationing group qualifies for a price reduction.
  • Management companies and individual rental owners usually offer their guests an option to buy trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which normally will cost you anywhere between 1% - 5% of the booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for days missed as a result of personal medical-related emergencies or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation charges, such as an unexpected hotel stay or extra gasoline expenses. Trip insurance can be a a bank account-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your host for program terms and fees.
  • Many rental management companies and vacation rental houses supply Southport area visitor guides which often include special deals, either offered directly by local companies, or through a partnership between the rental management company and the business itself. You can also find Southport visitors guide and coupon books at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers.

How to choose the perfect rental home:

  • Select your vacation dates and spending budget.
  • Note the number beds and the bed configuration your family requires. ??Oceanfront condo 2BR direct beach access + pool ?? has 2 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our Southport rentals search.
  • Precise descriptions of bedrooms and bed counts & types is commonly accessible on booking pages. Otherwise, email or call the host before you book the vacation property. Note that most listings specify the max. guest capacity, which usually includes sofa beds in living rooms.
  • Does your family require specific amenities? Most websites include search filters for amenities. Use these to your advantage to find the perfect rental home.
  • Proper accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for persons with disabilities. .
  • Some properties allow pets, but some do not. Allowable types of family pet, weight and breeds may be restricted, and additional charges may apply. Ask the owner about your furry family members before booking.

Have a great stay:

  • Get the host's contact number and entry/exit procedures for your rental home.
  • To make sure that damages aren't attributed to your stay, inspect for any problem areas during arrival. Contact the rental manager right away to report any pre-existing damages. If there is a dispute, having a record of problems and contact attempts will be useful.
  • Ask questions. You may want instructions for a fireplace, stereo or washer/dryer. Contact your owner. They are there to help! A brief text message can prevent lots of problems.
  • Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking restrictions can make a stay more pleasurable. Be a good neighbor. You'll enhance your chance to make some new local friends, and resident neighbors are often a great resource to find the best local scenic spots.
  • Don't forget to... Ask a local! Local residents can often help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to enjoy a steak with a view, have a great night out, or the best spots for fishing?
  • Lock your vacation home while you're away. Protect the owner's property and your stuff!
  • At departure, complete a final walk-through to make sure you haven't forget any personal items. Make sure to check bathrooms, garages, and back yards for hidden belongings. Clean out the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
  • Record a video to document the condition of the property.
  • Did your family have a fantastic stay? Many rental home management companies make it easy for guests to provide comments. If your property and/or property management company was fantastic, they would love to hear about it. If anything was defective and they failed to address it in a reasonable manner, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make a note as part of your comments.
