Strategies to get the perfect Sunset Beach rental experience:

When to reserve a Southport rental home & When to go:

  • Book your vacation home as early as possible. Rental schedules often become available a year in advance (or in September just after the Summer season ends). Many families reserve their Summer rentals during Winter holiday get-togethers. Book before these holidays for best selection.
  • June, July, and August are high season in Sunset Beach. To get the best value, consider shifting your vacation dates to the Spring or Fall seasons. May, September, and October offer pleasant weather, fewer crowds, and greatly reduced traffic. Many vacationers use this method to reserve larger homes, or to reserve a beach front rental that would otherwise be unavailable or unaffordable during June, July, and August. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a Southport vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation near the ocean? Christmas, Thanksgiving, and New Years Eve are great times to gather with family and friends at your favorite beach.
  • Some hosts and property managers offer promotional rates for veterans. Check with your host or property manager to see if discounts are available for your family.
  • Booking websites usually offer renters an option to buy vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which normally will cost 1% - 5% of the base reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any missed vacation time as a result of personal medical-related issues or weather, as well as hurricane evacuation charges, such as an unanticipated hotel overnight or extra gas expenses. Trip insurance can be a a bank account-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask the property owner for specifics.
  • Find a copy of your local Southport area magazine when you arrive at the rental property. If your rental property doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local shops and fuel stations. In addition to great articles, visitor guides have deals for local shops and restaurants.

Selecting the best rental in Sunset Beach:

  • Choose your vacation week and maximum budget.
  • Determine how many bedrooms and the bed configuration your group needs. Custom built beach home with a private pool! has 5 bedrooms and 6 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our search.
  • Specific information about bedrooms and bed counts is usually accessible online. If they are not listed, contact the property management company before booking your home. Remember that most properties list the max. guest capacity, which typically includes pull out couches in living rooms. You'll need to work out what is optimal for your group.
  • Some rental properties allow pets, and some don't. Acceptable types of family pet, weight and breeds may be restricted, and added costs may apply. Ask the owner about allowable pet guidelines before booking.
  • Does your family require unique amenities? Most rental search websites include search filters with amenity lists.
  • Appropriate accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for those with limited mobility. Confirm all required amenities are available before reserving a rental.

More tips for your visit:

  • Review arrival and departure procedures before leaving home. Add a note with the instructions to your smartphone, and take a printed backup.
  • Ask questions. You may want instructions for a garage door opener, elevator or appliance. Contact your property manager. They are there to help! A brief text message prevents a lot of issues.
  • Protect the rental owner (and your things!) by locking and securing the home while you are away, just like you would at home.
  • Note any damages to the rental upon arrival, and immediately e-mail them to the host. We especially recommend texts and e-mails, as they usually contain built-in time stamps that can be valuable if damages are assessed.
  • Respect the neighborhood. Often, surrounding homes are filled by permanent residents. Respecting quiet hours and parking regulations can make a stay significantly more pleasurable.
  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Locals can often help you find exactly what you're looking for. Who better to ask where to rent beach equipment, have a great night out, or the best spots for BBQ?
  • Double-check the property to confirm that you've packed all personal items on check-out day. Check closets, dressers, garages, and bathrooms for hidden items. Clean out the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
  • Record a video to document the condition of the property.
  • Did your family have a fantastic vacation? Most rental home management companies make it easy for travelers to provide reviews. If your property and/or host was fantastic, they would love to hear about it. If anything was inoperable and they failed to correct it within reason, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make it a point as part of your comments.

Victory Beach Vacations

Visitors who are on the hunt for the postcard-perfect vacation rental in the heart of the Carolina Beach or Kure Beach area will find an enticing selection and plenty of friendly customer service when they rent through Victory Beach Vacations. Based in Carolina Beach in the coastal Cape Fear region, Victory Beach Vacations has more than 100 vacation rentals in all shapes and sizes to ensure that every vacationing family can find their dream home away from home on the beach.   When you book your Cape Fear getaway with Victory Beach Vacations, the fun doesn’t end when you leave the beach, it continues with an array of privately-owned properties outfitted with all of the amenities needed for a fabulous beach vacation.   Jenna Lanier, General Manager, explains that her family first opened the rental and property management business in 2002. At the forefront of Victory Beach operations is Lanier’s mother, Caroline Meeks. Meeks is both the Broker in Charge and co-owner with husband, Buck Meeks, who manages the Field Services team with Lanier’s husband, Scott.   For nearly 20 years, the Victory Beach team has worked tirelessly to establish a network of top-of-the-line rental properties for Cape Fear visitors to enjoy. “As far as our properties go,” explains Lanier, “they are all updated, well-furnished and appointed. “We have always performed post-cleaning inspections and since the pandemic, have put freshly laundered duvets over all of the comforters between rentals.”   Lanier emphasizes how important the guests experience is “we strive to give our guests a relaxing, stress free, memorable vacation.” This emphasis on customer service has led to Victory Beach Vacations having a 4.8 Google rating with over 300 reviews by happy owners and guests. In addition to Victory Beach’s superior sanitation practices, the company offers properties for every type of visitor. Choose from luxury oceanfront houses and condos to more reasonbly priced 2nd row properties with oceanviews. Many properties include pools and hot tubs as well, perfect for outdoor entertaining, and many are dog friendly.   Lanier also notes that all properties are within walking or driving distance to Pleasure Island’s main attractions – Carolina Beach and Kure Beach. The former, as described by Lanier, is the more commercialized of the two destinations and features a boardwalk, outdoor dining options and a plethora of weekly activities including fireworks, live music, amusement park pop-ups, and movies under the stars. Kure Beach offers a more residential feel with its fishing pier, intimate restaurants and family favorite, North Carolina Aquarium at Fort Fisher.More water fun awaits, too. “There is a harbor and a canal that feed into the intercoastal. We have several properties on the harbor so guests can bring their boat, kayak, [or jet ski] and travel between islands,” says Lanier.   A stay with Victory Beach Vacations is an annual pilgrimage for most. “A large percentage of guests are previous guests. Some even reserve the same property for the next year as they’re checking out,” Lanier says. “It’s almost like it’s their personal vacation home.”   Even before guests arrive at their vacation destination, the Victory Beach Vacations’ website greets them with a live beach cam and exquisite aerial footage of both Carolina and Kure Beaches.
