Our top Vacation rental home tips:

Getting the most from your spending budget:

  • The earlier you can book a vacation rental, the easier your search will be. The most desirable rental properties are reserved early. Booking your vacation property 6-12 months before your vacation is recommended. Holidays such as Christmas and Thanksgiving are excellent times to search for and book your vacation rental.
  • Summer time is high season in the Southport area. Reserve your vacation in Spring or Fall to enjoy gorgeous weather while saving money and avoiding crowded roads, restaurants, and activities.
  • Active Duty and veterans of the US Armed forces may qualify for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property manager whether your group qualifies for a price reduction.
  • Property managers often offer renters an option to add trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which usually costs between 1% - 5% of the reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any missed vacation time as a result of medical-related issues or weather, as well as ensuing additional evacuation costs or charges, such as an unexpected hotel stay or extra fuel expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a bank account-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your host for additional information.
  • Often, management companies and vacation rental houses supply Southport area visitors guides which will include special offers, either offered directly by local companies, or by way of a relationship between the rental management company and the business itself. You can also find Southport visitors guide and coupon books at local shops and grocery stores.

Planning and choosing your prefectvacation home:

  • Select a group leader, choose your vacation week, and choose a max budget.
  • Note the number bedrooms and what type of bedroom configuration your group needs. 078 Meletis At Sunset by Sunset Vacations has 4 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our rental home search.
  • Specific information about bedrooms and bed counts is almost always accessible on booking pages. If they are not listed, email the property management company before booking the vacation home. Note that most property listings specify the max. guest capacity, which usually includes pull out couches in living rooms. You will need to determine what configuration is suitable for your group.
  • Some rental properties allow pets, and some do not. Allowable types of dog or cat, size and breeds may be restricted, and added charges may apply. Ask the owner about pets before booking.
  • Does your group require particular amenities? Most rental search websites include search filters for amenities.
  • Appropriate accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for persons with a disability. .

More tips for your visit:

  • Take a copy of the property manager's contact number and entry/exit procedures for your . We recommend storing the host's contact information in your smartphone and wallet.
  • Property managers are great sources of help! Don't be shy to ask any questions during your stay.
  • Protect the rental owner (and your things!) by keeping the rental locked up while you are out, just like you would at home.
  • Upon arrival, record any issues with the property and immediately contact the owner. Record all coorespondence.
  • Respect the neighborhood. Often, surrounding homes are occupied by local residents. Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking rules is the right thing to do.
  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Neighbors can usually help. Who better to ask where to rent beach equipment, have a great night out, or the best spots for fishing?
  • Re-check every room of the vacation property to confirm that you've packed everything at departure. Make sure to check garages, decks, and cabinets for hidden treasure. Clean out the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
  • Inspect the property one final time and keep an eye out for any damage. We recommend inspecting the property with the property manager whenever you can. If the host is not available, ensure that you take photos and video of the rental to record its condition at check-out.
  • Remember to leave feedback! Property owners rely on excellent feedback to drive future bookings. They'll be grateful for your feedback. Alternatively, if something wasn't right, other vacationers will will be grateful for your feedback and help them have the best future vacation. Remember to be objective. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the host could control the issue, and if so, whether they responded reasonably to remedy it.
